I always have loads of plans for my weekend gaming, but in the end it usually turns out different. What did you guys actually play? Any memorable sessions or experiences? Did you get to play at all or did you're mother in law surprise you with a all sunday visit? Please share your experiences here!
I suggested this topic in a thread not so long ago and got some positive feedback. If anyone wants to help finetune this topic, please do!
Editor's Note: Excellent idea!

Planned: DiRT.. tons and tons of DiRT

Planned : FFXI and Zelda Minish Cap
Played : A ton of FFXI. 55 Beastmaster FTW! Rampage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mI7VwJf7-60) is amazing. I would be convinced that the Coffer Key for Sea Serpent Grotto doesn't exist, but I had one 2 weeks ago. Because anyone on here will know what that means. :-P
EDIT : I love this idea, by the way. This needs to become a weekly Monday fixture here. :D

I picked up DiRT and Forza 2. Played lots and lots of DiRT. Great game. Truly enjoy it. My wife got a little sick from all of the fast-paced motion while watching me zip through wooded terrain. I'm not so hot on its Live multiplayer stuff. I hate racing against imaginary people. It's still fun regardless.

Thanks for editing my thread/post, I made some mistakes but that's what you get from creating topics at work, wón't happen again.
I planned to play Just Cause (budget purchase) and I actually did (believe me, that's rare). Greta game if you just like to fool around. The view from the sky is amazing.
I also tried the Forza and DIRT demo again because we had a racing special on my Dutch gaming podcast. But after 2 laps of Forza I tried to figure out how much damage my car could take, which clearly indicates the game is not for me.

Planned: Crackdown, trying to clean up the last few achievements I need for the game. I generally give a shit less about achievements but for some reason I made a goal to get them all in this game. Seven more! I need one damn pesky hidden orb too.
Played: Friday I hit up Gears of War multi-player with a buddy from work, I do not play it online a lot so we goofed off and learned a few maps a little better. Ended up playing the campaign on Insane into the wee hours of the morning. Saturday I cracked out on some Arcade titles. Sunday I barely touched anything, though I jumped into Crackdown for a bit.

Planned: WoW, DoW, Longest Journey
Played: WoW on Friday night. Saturday was Graduation Party, where Volleyball was played then poker. Sunday was spent recovering from said volleyball, where apparently I used muscles that have been in stasis for years.
Maybe will get a chance to install DoW tonight!

Player: C&C 3
Stopped at the mall Saturday with my mom and her parents and she saw C&C 3 and immediately offered to pay for half if I let her play it on my computer. So I got it and started playing that instead.

Planned: A ton of Forza 2
Played: Forza 2 with a bit of WoW.
The good news is that I've started a custom paint job in Forza 2 with the Princess Leia animated style statuette as the picture. I figure it will take me a zillion years to finish it.

06-25-2007, 10:27 AM
Planned: CoH & Kingdom Hearts 2
Played: Only got 4hrs of KH2
I loved the first KH but the worlds and difficulty lv of KH2 is quite a disappointment. The game is just to damn easy. If not for the story I would have given up on it already.

Wanted to play some Freedom Fighters vs the 3rd Reich but never got around to it.

Planned: GH2, Catan, Overlord Demo
Played: More Catan than I expected. Man, it's nutty how addictive that game is. I played the Overlord demo again...I really don't have $60 to spend, but I gotta get that game.
Also played 'Paint the Laundry Room' and 'Take the kids to the local community swim center.'
Yellowman

Planned: Tons of KOTOR1 on Xbox... cleaning out my massive Xbox backlog before I buy a 360. I've been working on this since way before the 360 release. *sigh*
Played: I was reading tons of stuff about Oblivion on 360 and since I already own it on PC (though had vowed to stop and wait until I got it on 360) I succumbed to temptation and decided to reinstall it and ended up playing it for several hours on Friday. On Saturday I played it for a few more and then ended up starting and playing KOTOR for a couple of hours. Sunday I played a tiny bit more Oblivion, a little bit of WoW PVP, and 4 or 5 more hours of KOTOR. Later I played SWAT4 co-op for an hour or so before bed.

Planned: World of Warcraft (I'm late to the party)
Reality: WoW friday & saturday night. Then sunday I played DIrt...... the real stuff. We had a hot tub delivered so I had to dig the trench for the electrical hookup. These hands.... they aren't made for doing real work, I tells ya.

Planned: Stalker
Played: A ton of Tomb Raider: Legend and a lot of Stalker
I'm excited to play the new Tomb Raider, but I realized I never finished Legend. I have to say that I've been really impressed with the game. The controls are really a lot of fun, and scaling the environments makes you feel really cool.

I did pretty well, and I think I hit most of what I planned:
Played a fair amount of Gears. I'm at the stupid section right before the first Brummak - where he smashes the tank. I've done it about ten times, and I still haven't gotten past it. I'm annoyed that the save point isn't closer to that actual section, as I have to go through a couple minutes of nothing before I get my chance to not die. Again and again. I'm sure I'll get past it today, though. I seem to die and restart a lot in Gears. I'm not a big fan of the "enter level, die, restart, repeat five times, progress" school of game design. The rest of the game is so well done I can put up with it, though, as it's still a lot of fun.
Only played Godfather on Wii a little bit Friday night. Played a couple games of Pac Man CE yesterday, but I still can't break 200k. I seem to be getting worse at the game the more I play it, and I'm really longing for a real arcade stick.
Also popped in Tetris DS for a game, which was totally random and unexpected.

planned: tabula rasa
played: tabula rasa and a bit of shadowrun (pleasantly surprised about being able to play it, but dissappointed by the game. I really like the katana weapon and think, "Wow this would be an interesting game mechanic for a ninja game... it would need fine-tuning though)

Planned: Play more GRAW1 on Hard mode
Played: Finished the GRAW1 Hard campaign.
Did not plan but ended up: finishing GoW on hardcore by myself (I was only able to defeat RAAM when he got stuck on Dom's corpse, allowing me to pepper him with headshots.)
Did not plan but ended up: getting 6 DS games for the price of 4 at ToysRUS :)

I don't even recall what I planned
Instead, I played some Trauma Center on Friday night with Ms. Kamalot. We LOVED IT! I mentioned in the "what are you playing this weekend" thread that it is completely exceptional. If you have access to a Wii, you owe it to yourself to try Trauma Center.
PM me and I'll send you a GameFly coupon so you can rent it for a month, free.
Also played lots of Pokemon to level up my team for a tournament on Sat. I got beat in the second round, which is farther than I usually make it.
Played a bit of God of War on the PS3 to check out the full-screen upscaling. It helps, but I'd still rather see real 720p rendering like the Xbox 360 does.
Got some time in with a wierd 360 title from GameFly called WarTech: Senko Ronde. It was neat and stylish, but ultimately not my cup of tea. Sadly, I don't think I have any friends nearby that would really get into it either.

I got three for the price of two at Best Buy, matching the Toys R Us sale (Elite Beat Agents, Mario vs. DK 2, Super Mario 64 DS).
Oh, and my son got a semi-cast (more of a splint) on his right arm. Ack!

06-25-2007, 01:25 PM
Planned: Forza 2 and Diablo II
Played: Ended up playing allot less Forza than I wanted to.
I also played the PC demo of Puzzle Quest only to git pissed of that I couldn't find the thing any where. It turns out they don't have or even plan on having a PC version. WTF! who the hell makes a PC demo when they are not even a PC publisher?
On the plus side; My wife liked PQ so much that she is thinking about us getting a DS. But after looking at the SS for it. I'm going to she might wait for the XLA version or get a, *GULP*, PSP.

Planned: Not a lot of gaming, lots of reading and maybe some job hunting
Played: A lot of LOTRO, a bit of Disgaea, and only got about 50 pages through a book over the entire weekend. Not the best really. Also didn't do much job hunting - I handed in one CV this afternoon, but that's it.
Kid Moxie
06-25-2007, 01:53 PM
Planned: Finish up achievements on Crackdown and a bit of Odin Sphere.
Played: Did the above, plus got in a little Phoenix Wright: Justice for All and Twilight Princess. Hurray for getting in more gaming than expected! :)

Got some time in with a wierd 360 title from GameFly called WarTech: Senko Ronde
That's a title I'm still very keen to pick up, but I'm a bit worried nobody will be online to play it. I''m crazy for Japanese stuff like that and the whole anime vibe does look good. Plus it's something that's quite original in this online shooter thing. But in Europe it's 60 euro's, which i's waaaaaaay to expensive.

I had staff duty all night Friday (US Army officer), and I planned on taking my PC and logging some serious WoW time, since I haven't had more than 10 minutes to play lately.
But, I quickly discovered that the building I was assigned to ONLY had government network -- no unsecured (personal) computers allowed. Thus, no internet access.
So, I spent 24 hours playing Star Wars: Empire at War, fished out of my massive backlog of purchased-and-unopened games.
Meanwhile my friends ditched me and leveled to 68 without me.

06-25-2007, 03:45 PM
Planned: Guitar Hero 2, Forza 2 and Battlefield 2.
Played: Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2.
I upgraded my machine and wanted to give it the PC gaming workout. I totally forgot how addictive this game is. I'm considering purchasing a new joystick or gamepad just to play more.
Anyone got any good recommendations for a good gamepad or joystick? The 360 controller for Windows sucks for Battlefield 2.
I even tried the Armed Forces expansion last night, it started out as an 8 player game and once people saw that people were playing, the server jumped up to like 24 players in just a few minutes.

I was away all weekend, so I think I stuck to what my intentions were.
Planned: Etrian Odyssey, FFVI Advance, Ouendan 2
Played: Etrian Odyssey, Dead Rising, Band Of Bugs
For most of the weekend, my time was taken up (what little I had) with playing Etrian Odyssey. I'm still plugging away on the 6th floor but man, I love that game. I'm working on levelling up my Troubador so that he'll catch up to the rest of the party.
After we got everything settled last night, I was able to play a bit more Dead Rising. I got Frank up to level 8 and then got pissed off that the photographer guy wouldn't go away... that kept me from hearing any of the phone calls from Otis and eventually got me killed. So I decided to restart the game for the 4th time. Sigh. One question: Do I need to keep the magazines in my inventory to get their bonuses or can I just read them and drop them?
I also put a bit more time into Band of Bugs. If you like a strat-RPG like Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem, you should really pick up BoB.
SPBTool, I think they are actually going to bring out a PC version of Puzzle Quest at some point. I'd heard rumours of a summer release. The reason they haven't yet is because the publisher (D3) would only do console releases and I guess there's something in the contract they signed that blocks them from doing a PC release for a certain amount of time. Oh well. Awesome game though (I loved the DS version).

Planned: A lot of Eternal Sonata
Played: Some Eternal Sonata because my electronic dictionary got milk spilled over it and it died a terrible death. Cross referencing wikipedia for chopin's life story with the background stories took up a lot of time too.
absolutely great game though.
