3 more titles hit the Wii Shop Channel (http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=12551) this morning, including the superb N64 racer F-Zero X and the supremely excellent Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting for the SNES.

F-Zero® X (http://www.vc-reviews.com/review/523/f-zero-x.php) (Nintendo® 64, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 1,000 Wii Points): Choose from 30 different hover-car racers, including updated versions of the Blue Falcon and other vehicles from the original F-Zero, and get ready to play one of the fastest racers ever. You'll speed to the finish line on tracks that twist and turn through the air, doing your best to avoid the other 29 cars on the track. If you're in a competitive mood, try to win a Grand Prix Cup, get the fastest lap time in a Time Trial or destroy the competition in a Death Race. You can also challenge three friends in the Versus mode. With five separate play modes, hidden vehicles and courses, and an excellent soundtrack, F-Zero X still represents one of the best racing titles to date.

Street Fighter® II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting (http://www.vc-reviews.com/review/508/street-fighter-ii-turbo-hyper-fighting.php) (Super NES®, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen –Violence, 800 Wii Points): Street Fighter II defined gaming in the 1990s by revolutionizing the fighting-game genre. Regarded as one of the greatest games of all time, Street Fighter II' Turbo: Hyper Fighting was the third and final release in the original series. Featuring the eight original World Warriors (including Ryu, Chun Li and Guile) along with playable boss characters (Balrog, Sagat and M. Bison), this classic title offered enhanced playing speed and improved character balancing.

China Warrior (http://www.vc-reviews.com/review/534/china-warrior.php) (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older –Violence, 600 Wii Points): China Warrior is a side-scrolling action game that was released around the same time as the TurboGrafx16 in Japan. It's up to the kung fu master Wang to defeat the Dark Emperor, who stands atop the kung fu world in China. Punch, kick and jump-kick enemies along the path that lies between you and the three bosses of each stage. Skillfully fight your way through all four stages, and be sure not to miss recovery items while dodging enemy attacks. China Warrior boasts character size and detail that rivaled all other games at the time of its release. Exciting one-on-one fights against the game's realistic bosses will make you feel like you're in the middle of a kung fu movie.

Finally looks like a decent week for the VC.

F-Zero X and SFII: HF? Don't blow your load Nintendo. ;)

Damn, I've been waiting for F-Zero X since I got my Wii a month ago. Too bad my Wii sucks and I have to send it back for repairs. Stupid Wii and its overheating graphics chip.

If you own a Wii and a 360, then there's absolutely no reason to get SFII Turbo with the upcoming release of SFII HD...plus the Wii version of course isn't online.

Nintendo FTL.

Dam what problems are you seeing? I have to send mine in two. It still works, but I'm gettin vertical lines of pixels across the screen like subtle barcode. It might have going on for awhile, but I didn't notice it until RE4. And now when I go back to other titles it's a bit noticeable. So off you go.

LOL, I have the exact same problem. First really noticed it with RE4 too, but though I saw it in Wario once prior to RE4.

Read my posts in the RE4 Review thread. http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31700

Aparently this is caused by leaving the Wii in stand-by mode for extended periods of time. If you use it daily you shouldn't have a problem, I went 10 days without using mine (according to the Wii history) and when I played it again I noticed it. It appears the Wi-Fi chip gets too hot in Stand-by mode and damages the graphics chip, this is a dumb design. The Wii fan doesn't work in Stand-by, I was told by Nintendo they don't recommended stand-by for extended periods of time. If you won't be using your Wii daily I was told it is better to disable stand-by, very dumb.

I now have stand-by off and the lines are barely noticble at first, but after 10 mins they are clearly there, after 30 mins the screen is garbbled.

Good luck with your repair, I won't really miss the Wii anyway. I got it on May 21 and I haven't played it much since I'm not enjoying the games a whole lot (spent more time with Punchout then anything else). I much perfer my Xbox 360 but I was looking forward to RE4 again, oh well was told the turn around time on the Wii repair was 6-16 days.

Doubt it, 1000's of users are experiencing this. In fact Nintendo acknowledged it back in April as a problem. It was well documented with the Nintendo support guy I spoke with but he wasn't too eager to go into many details (like admiting it was a design flaw).

Tons of people posting about it on wikipedia.

F-Zero X, yay!

Likewise, my Wii has been in standby for well over a month with no ill effects. (I was on vacation and didn't bring it with me.)

Totally agree, I have a ton of games but none of them keep me intrested enough to play them over what I play on my Xbox 360 right now. I've only had the console for a month, I can only imagine the people that have had them since day 1. RE4 was the first game I really looked forward to playing and now this happens.

These are the games I have:

Elebits
Excite Truck
Godfather
Heatseeker
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mario Party 8
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Red Steel
Resident Evil 4
SSX Blur
Super Paper Mario
Super Swing Golf
Trauma Center
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves
Wii Play
Wii Sports

Also have these for VC

Punch Out!
Super Castlevania IV
Super Mario 64

Funny thing is I've played Punch Out! more than anything else. I really find too many problems with the Wii controls not being precise enough or being too picky. It is hard to find a well balanced game, the ones they do play well (Super Paper Mario) don't make great use of the controls. Overall I'd only give my Wii experice a 6/10

here is a link to the documented issue on Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii#Technical_issues

Here is some more information about it, funny thing is you always here people bashing Microsoft for xbox 360 issues (i've never had a issue with my 360) yet it appears users of the Wii are trying to HIDE this.

Also I don't know what Nintendo's support line is like in the US or other country's but in Canada I called them at around 11:00PM eastern and they were closed and told me to call back on normal business hours, not sure if they are even open on Weekends. Then when I called the next day the recording told me (i'm rcalling from memory) "Your call is important but all our representives are busy, please call back later. Calling back during less busy hours will result in a customer agent being avalible to help you." I tried 30 mins later and got the same, then I tried an hour after that and got though. I was amazed that they told the customer that they were too busy to help me. LOL.

Looks like another solid week. I'll hold off for SF HD, though. Never played F-Zero X on the n64, but it got great reviews.

I stopped leaving my Wii in standby mode a couple months ago. There's no reason to have it in standby, other than to see the blue light announcing a new message. I can wait until I turn on the system to get my messages. ;) Seems like a waste of electricity, since there's nothing for it to do right now anyways.

Damn, Nightrain, that's a lot of games for only having had the system for one month! That's probably why you're not playing any of them. =) I picked up Godfather last week, and it's fantastic. They really nailed the hand-to-hand combat controls, and there's a lot to do in the game. I had no interest in it for ps2, but it's a blast on Wii.

Regarding the overheating-in-standby: I noticed that the console got pretty hot in "standby", so I turned that WiiConnect24 B.S. off.

I'm glad to see I avoided that overheating mess other people are reporting. The news and weather channels aren't that great, anyway. :(

So it is! :p

Edit: Already downloaded F-Zero X. Had tons of fun with that game. I'm sorely thinking about downloading Hyper Fighting. But I don't have a problem holding out for awhile.

Capcom, where's the Mega Man X love?

Matter of fact, when will Wave Race 64 or Acclaim's Extreme G2 hit Virtual Console?

I'll even wish in futility for Episode One Racer. :( A very cool racer from LucasArts.

I played china warrior back in the day. It was ok then but I wouldn't recommend buying it. The other two games out today on VC are good.

Yeah, SF2: Turbo being the 3rd and final SF2 release on the Super NES! I remember those days....

...that only lasted a few months, because SUPER Street Fighter 2 was released in 1994 on the Super NES as well.

And while not part of the main series, don't forget the pretty good port of Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the Super NES!

Who writes all this inaccurate VC information?

I absolutely forgot about Wave Race. That's a day one purchase for sure.

I got my Nintendo Wii recently and was surprised how hot it would get. It's fortunate there is a way to turn off standby outside of physically unhooking the power outlet.

FZero X? Oh snap, now that's another VC game that I've been waiting for. Consider it sold! :D Plus that track generator provides some unlimited speedy goodness...

Super Street Fighter 2? Hmm... I'd be interested in seeing how the VC version compares to the 360 version. I have a hard time believing the 360 version would be any good due to the d-pad issues :(

Gah, I'm debating grabbing F-Zero, but after the manly-tear inducing perfection that was GX, I worry it'll be a let down in comparison.

Mine actually has terrible video problems on my main tv with composite video, although it works find on another TV it’s still the first device I’ve seen do this. I bought the s-video connector and it works fine with that (which admittedly, I’d have bought anyway) but I was surprised that the Wii was the first product I’ve ever owned to exhibit such a problem. It also had a problem reading the Wii sports disc, but that hasn’t happened since the first few days so hopefully it was ‘temporary’.

Super SF 2 and Alpha 2 are neither Street Fighter 2. They're different games. Turbo is more like a "special edition" of SF2.
