According to this article (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/29/news_6128337.html) at Gamespot, at a conference to be held next month, MS will be unveiling more Japanese publishers and titles headed for the Xbox 360:

According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Microsoft Japan will be making an announcement in July during which it will reveal new third-party publishers and game titles for the Xbox 360 aimed at the Japanese market. A representative from the company told the magazine that "there could be some major surprises" at the conference.
This is really great news for everyone, I think. It's nice to see MS finally taking this segment of the market seriously. It's about time.

How can this be great news for everyone? Sony & Nintendo hardcore fans won't like it at all. :D

Well I would say that more competition in the Japanese market will be good for the overall quality of all Japanese developed games. So I would argue that it raises the bar for developers on all consoles and is therefore good for fans of all brands.

Doesn't bother me too much. But then again, I may not be biased enough.

Anyway, the Xbox actually got a good number of Japan-produced games, but there just wasn't the install base to make it very profitable. If the 360 gets a good launch, it should do pretty good in Japan.

Wow, the 360 is going to get the new Ridge Racer. Wow, look at the support. Do they really need a PR event for this?

Nice. ;)

But on topic, hey, more Japanese developed games for the 360, just means more games for us all!

Dude... 80% of the Japanese titles for Xbox were pure bullshit. I mean Blinx? Sneakers? Of course you have the random gem like PDO, but titles worth playing were pretty rare and Squeenix was non-existant.

More Japanese games? Cool! When does Soiled Panty Vending Machine Tycoon come out?

 That is sooooooo wrong.

Funny.

But wrong.

On topic, I'd say some stronger support from the JRPGs would help. Tecmo has done some great things for the xbox, but I'd like to see some more exclusives from Namco (DMC? Please?) etc. etc.

Dude, I hope DMC doesn't stand for Devil May Cry there because that was made by Capcom.

I'm guessing Capcom and Konami will be throwing in support for Xbox 360. Square's already announced support. I imagine all the major developers will be going multi or at least dual platform to hedge their bets against the major production costs for next gen. At least until a clear winner emerges (if one does).
