The game with the longest title ever is getting closer to the light of day. We have 17 new screens from the episodic title, Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

Hrm...this is beginning to look like it's shaping up. I didn't realize it was going to be a RPG of sorts. It looks like it even has character creation!

I'm not much for the PA art style in 3D. It just looks strange.

Just like everyone else, I'll be picking it up because it's Penny Arcade's game.*
With luck, it might actually be fun. That'd be a bonus.

I didn't realize it was going to be a RPG of sorts. It looks like it even has character creation!Yessir, you don't actually get to play as any of the Penny Arcade characters but instead adventure along side em, playing as a PA'd version of yourself (or anyone else you want to create).

Yep, from what I've read you create a character and then it's him, Tycho, and Gabe as the main party.
Hrm.... still looks like shit to me. I'm sorry but not going to give this game the benefit of the doubt when the two main characters live off critiquing games for a living. Well sort of.

That depends on if you consider Rain-Slick to be one word or two. If it's two (and I'd say it is) then it's tied with Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie. There's got to be something that's longer...

That would be the most disturbing crossover ever. Imagine: Mickey is really, the fruit fucker!

Looks like it could be fun. I don't understand all the complaints about the graphics though, when you have something with a pre-defined style like Penny Arcade, you can't go all out next-genning the graphics and making everything hyper-realistic. It's a comic and it looks like it's coming out of a comic. I dig it.

I think the people complaining about the graphics would prefer a 2D look, DancingMan. Me, I don't mind the look.

well, people that play games solely for graphics are morons.
they are the same people who go see every shitty movie that comes out and then wonders why Hollywood keeps making them. they have no intelligence and should be forced into slave labor.
but thats just my opinion.

looks pretty freakin great. can't wait for this title.
i think they've captured the art-style of PA perfectly and it'll be a lot of fun to play alongside those two characters in a game...

Please be great, please be great. It would be really, horribly, ironic if their own game was really dreadful. I doubt they would let it go if it was, however. I would imagine as gamers themselves they will be keep a very close eye.

Tha looks light years better than the trailer footage they showed.
Really, for people not having the budget of a big publisher/developer, it's a pretty impressive project.

Ironic, but not surprising considering they have no actual game development experience. I read all the PA updates and comics, but I'm pessimistic about this title until the reviews are in.
I'll buy it even if it sucks. I love PA, and I'll bet this will be hilarious.

Unless the thing is incredibly overpriced and horrendously bad to play, I'm getting this. I loves me the PA.

It'll be worth it to me just for the humor if nothing else. I'd probably pick it up just to go through it in God mode and see the story if the gameplay doesn't keep me interested.

I'll give em a shot. At least benefit of the doubt.
Think about it...ultra gamers...making a game.
Sure they themselves don't have any real game production experience, but do you REALLY think they would attach themselves to a game that was terrible? I trust in their gamer credentials to make a shit-hot game.
And at the very least, it'll be like one long PA strip humor-wise....that's enough for me.

As I understand it, Gabe and Tycho have almost nothing to do with the production of the game itself. Gabe is doing concept art and Tycho is writing the story but all the actually game development is being done by an independent game studio.
I'm pretty excited about it really, an adventure game with a little RPG sprinkled on top? sounds like my kind of game, the PA involvement just increases the appeal.

Longest title, eh?
"Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army"
Longest name I can think of.

Longest Domestic Developed Title?
I think I understand some of the complaints WRT graphics. If you look at the KH series, they extended 2D into 3D, but did it so *naturally* that it's relatively easy to forget that you're looking at the Disney characters in 3D.
I don't think they managed it with the PA transition.

While I would probably prefer a classic fully 2D adventure game, I'll be picking this up for the writing alone. "Flying Pricks", haha.
Only if there is a "Hot Coffee" mod that is usable with Fruit Lover* and AnnArchy.
*You know what the real word is.
Count me in as well. Even if the game blows, the stuff PA does for the gaming community more than makes up for it. Hell, fruit f@ker should be hilarious.

PA are funny when they're making jokes about something but their bullshit like tube samurai or w/e the hell that shit is, is simply trash, its neither interesting nor funny, and its alright to admit that you don't like it even if your a fanboi of PA. Not everything they do is brilliant, don't kid yourselves.

This attitude always amuses me. You think you enjoy something, but actually you don't.
It's like how everyone says they enjoyed Shadow of the Colossus, but I wasn't really that thrilled. So instinctually, I understand that nobody else liked it either, and they were just saying they did in order to sound smart. It's okay everyone. Nod. Wink. I understand.
(/sarcasm)
Forget the longest title, could this possibly be the first game with "precipice" in the title? That'd be something.
I guess it's a little premature, but any word yet on how this might be distributed? Steam?

Wow, the 2d stuff in this game looks amazing. It really makes the 3d stuff look all the more average. Does anyone else think that they should have made the whole game 2d? It would be amazing. Maybe like Odin Sphere?

Turn based combat is what I see. Ah a tribute to the classic 1980's rpg, which I stopped playing around the late 80's...most ppl who remember those days or are enamoured with Chocobo cuteness will pass, which is pretty much the entire market. Here's the trash bucket, thx.

Hell...I'm pretty happy playing Galaga on XBLA. I just like games that are FUN. If the controls, story and overall gameplay are there, then I'm in, in, in!!!

Hey now, normally I'm suspicious of people who would claim to know better than I do what I would and wouldn't like based on their own feelings. After all, it's absurd and megalomaniacal to think that you know so much about the world that you know someone's feelings better than themselves, especially if you've never actually met the person. But in this case, we have to consider the source. This is ph00p we're talking about here, the person whose username manages to combine leetspeak with the sound of a turd dropping. Clearly he's operating on a higher plane than us and is qualified to tell us what we do and do not like.

Actually, most of us remember XCom, Ultima and Fallout. And I am certainly not going to pass on another one. Hell, I just replayed Fallout a month back and I never really stopped playing XCom.

Agreed. Just because most RPG games have gone to a real-time combat system does not mean I like it more. Turn-based is where it's at, for me. Turn-based is not an anachronism, it is simply not the "cool thing" right now.

Its PA so I will give it serious consideration. As people who are big into playing and enjoying games I doubt they would let their names be attached to a POS , especially given how much of a say they have in development(according to their posts on the PA page).
Turn based? Thats a +1 for me. :)

PA has not put out anything so far that I have not enjoyed, so I will be picking this up regardless of the wonky graphics. As long as it's fun and funny, I'll be plenty satisfied.

That's why i always get a lot of amusement out of the internet.
People assume they somehow are more "in the know" and the rest of us just don't "get it".
In truth, most people just wish everyone would suddenly agree with them, proclaiming them the high lord of the internet. That will never happen. And to those of you out there who seem to think you speak for more people than just yourself...you don't, so stop kidding yourself.
And I'm not saying your wrong because the game will be great.
I'm saying that assuming you know better than everyone else just proves that you don't.

To me this looks a lot like Freedom Force (I think that's what it was called) where it's semi-turned based with a 3dish environment and a small party of characters.
I'm an unapolgetic fanboi, so I intend to buy it, but I think there are legitimate arguments to be made against most of the complaints
1. Art style is a personal preference thing, if you don't like it that's fine but that dosn't mean the game is bad, it means you don't approve of this aspect of it.
2. Hothead is doing a lot of the actual game development. From what I've read PA is just doing the artwork and storyline.

All I know is I'm getting tired of everyone jumping all over games that haven't even been released, or in some cases, even out of beta.
If you don't wanna play it, that's fine. But you're not going to sway any opinions by saying "I think it sucks, and because I think it sucks, it does."
I'm thinking most people are hating on it because it's a PA project.
And when it comes to the internet you aren't "kewl" if you like things that other people do apparently.
If you can cite reasons why you dislike it, then fine. But so many games (movies, books, etc.) get railed simply because people WANT to hate it.

Up until recently, I thought the longest title was for an old Spectrum game called "The Astonishing Adventures of Mr. Weems and the She-Vampires". PAA:OtR-SPoD (as it will never be known) comes close in more recent times, but I think the current title should go to the ridiculously-named "The Lord Of The Rings: The Battle For Middle Earth II: The Rise Of The Witch-King"
