Players race in challenging, heavyweight 850bhp cars through high speed blind corners and along perilous cliff edges in the Hill Climb events, including the world famous Pikes Peak International through the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
There are also multiple car races with Dakar-style trucks and super-powered 4x4s on grueling desert terrain in Rally Raid competitions. In Rally Cross, players switch between dirt and road racing. The competition is always breathing down your neck and always ruthless.
Then there are Crossover circuits and events from the CORR (Championship Off –Road Racing) series in the U.S. The CORR series is all about head-to-head full on dirt circuit racing. The combination of powerful off-road buggies and exciting dirt tracks incorporating tabletop jumps, drop-offs and moguls is an intoxicating mix.
DiRT™ also offers a dedicated rally championship section and the opportunity to race against others and the clock with a 100-person online multiplayer mode. In any mode, on any surface, the car handling is sublime, the physics system is thrillingly accurate and the damage engine is as devastating as ever.
Excellent! More racing goodness.
Editor's Note - PS3 owners will need to wait till September before they can get their hands on this. - fitbabits

It looks GREAT, plays great.. and feels fun.. but there is just something about the way the cars "sit" on the road that I don't like at all. They feel completely independent of the road at times. That's a bad thing for a racer.
Still a great game. I'll be waiting for GoGamer.com to give us a deal though.

I wonder if that is attributed to the surfaces that you're playing on? I haven't played the demo enough to compare the dirt surfaces to the paved roads.

It was supposed to ship yesterday and be in stores today. We will see....
Just what I needed, ANOTHER racing game that I cannot play for a month :(

I need to take the demo for another spin. It felt like I was driving around in forza2 sand the first time, which was a bit of a put off.

Yeah, the blew it on the physics of the game. Everything else is perfect, absolutely perfect! But the cars seem glued to the road and do not slide around corners so much as they dig in and grip a little too hard. Still fun as hell to play. The ONLY racing I have ever played and enjoyed while using the in car camera.

I was all over getting this until I heard about the terrible online play. I'm now going to wait for a price drop.

I'd like to get this, but I'll probably have to wait until it hits a discount. I'm still playing a crapload of Forza 2 and I just can't justify full price for another racer right now.

unfortunately, there aren't really many deals at all for 360 games from them [or anyone ... ], especially good ones.
Why the PS3 delay of that long? Are they waiting for systems?

That would be incredibly stupid, as they're holding it back to when PS3 games actually start coming out. If they want to get lost in the crowd, this is a good plan.

I thought it was reported that there were issues with development. Although that could be completely BS and they could be holding it back until there's a sufficient mass of PS3 owners. That strategy is good and bad. You'll sell the majority of your units during the first few weeks of release so the more PS3 owners, the more potential copies that will be sold. On the other hand as Gorvi mentioned your game could get lost in the shuffle if it's released with a bunch other games at the same time. I don't think there's a PS3 racing game coming out in the near future so they might be safe anyway.

Thing is that you cannot skid on dirt ;)

There is virtually no online play, which sucks ass. Just a time trial mode with 100 other people. Cool, yes, fun, no. Not even buggy racing or 1 vs 1 is included :(

I'm just amazed to learn that you can retail dirt skids
Pay-day tomorrow -- I'll be picking this up on my way in to work, I expect!!
after playing forza this game (demo) felt too arcady for me, dont know really why, i enjoyed most of its predecessors

Had this title preordered after trying the demo. Unlike in Forza 2, I don't go flying off the track every 5 seconds then spend 10 seconds trying to get back on it. In this game, I go flying off the track only half as frequently as in Forza. Yes, I've played way too much Burnout, where you almost can't fly off the track. :)

The gameplay in the demo was god awful. Pass.

The wheel control in the demo was downright unplayable. Unless I hear they've miraculously fixed it I won't touch this game with a 10' pole. Too bad, because it looked great.

Thanks for the tip off on that. That kills it for me. I seem to spend most of my gaming time playing online with friends.

I really loved the demo - gorgeous and very fun to play. I'm on the fence about the retail game, though. I'm kind of backlogged with games as it is.

Ditto, I've yet to finish GTA:SA, all 5 seasons of 24 I bought, Kameo, Call of Duty 2 or 3, and like 5 others. I'm gonna buy the darkness next week and two worlds the week after. I am screwed :(

The demo played better with my Logitech Wheel than Forza 2. I'm interested in trying the full game, just not paying full price. I'll either pick this up used or wait for a pricedrop. I've still got Forza to keep me busy once my 360 gets fixed.

I will say this is most gorgeous looking racing game I've seen, but the control was so damn impossible that I'm going to have to pass on this one. I really wanted to play it but it seems my gamer skills aren't up to snuff for this one. I could barely keep the cars on the road with the demo.. and talk about narrow tracks.. sheesh. It's a sad day when you notice that you can't even keep up with your favorite pastime.

I liked the demo a lot, but I couldn't afford this game unless I traded for it or paid $20. I'm just not big into racing games.
