Grab the totally new version 4.9 (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/) now.

Also, to Australian readers: Triple J is now podcasting (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/listen/podcast.htm).

Why don't people post some podcasts that they listen to

I quite like Area 51 (http://bonsaidigital.com/area51/)

Excellent, we can see our tax dollars get wasted through podcasting now.

As an Australian, naturally the podcasts I listen to are... NPR's On The Media (http://www.onthemedia.org/) and The Al Franken Show (http://www.airamericaplace.com/). Al can be quite the blowhard sometimes but on the whole I tend to enjoy it. On The Media tends to remind me of that one Futurama episode. The hosts seem to have been born with a heart full of neutrality. heh

I'm a nutter for listening to people talk. I have a 30km trip to and from university and for killing time during that, podcasting is a godsend.

A bunch talentless wankers, wanking on air over talentless musicans. Didn't they recently move to a shuffle format? We're paying them to run WinAMP.

Talentless? Are we listening to the same Js? Their presenters are far less annoying and far more interesting than you get on a commerial radio station. Talentless musicians? Is this why some of Australians largest indie talent has used JJJ as a launch pad?

Triple J provides a place for Australian music to get air time. They support the Australian music scene and give smaller bands a go, which they can do because they don't need to worry about pissing off sponsers. They've been the launching pad for much Australian talent which has gone off to become pretty darn big both nationally and internationally. There are very few stations (or so I've heard at least) that provide a service like this in the world.

Sure, they do play some shit, every radio station does that, but at least it's new and interesting shit, which is more than any other radio station does.

9 out of 10 times the stuff that Triple M calls 'new stuff' was playing on Triple J months earlier. Talentless artists indeed...

I'm glad to know my tax dollars are going to an organisation which nurtures Australian talent and provides me with access to new and interesting music. I'm glad you don't have a say in where our tax dollars go. If most of the music they play isn't your thing, fine, but jesus man, if you can't see it has at least some worth then you're a bitter close-minded person.

There is a difference between something that isn't your thing, and something that is talentless trash. I don't know if you're able to tell the two apart...

It was Triple M that switched to a shuffle format. And I quite agree, that lot are indeed a bunch of talentless wankers wanking on air over talentless musicans.

Triple J, on the other hand, are the only station worth listening to.

My mistake on the shuffle thing, too many triples.

Still, why is Triple M still on the air then? We have enough cretins filling our home grown entertainment, now we have them doing nothing.

i've bin looking forward to trying some podcasting, and now this is out, i thought it was the time to try. unfortunately, what it seems i really wanted was someone who just copied the essential mixes off (BBC) radio1 each week and put them up for people to download and listen to whenever, i hate the website's feeds - and they're in RAM -bleurgh!-. it seems that no-one is doing this, as yet :-/

so i tried to find if there were any sites that would tell me which of the many podcasts i should invest my time in. no dice - probably because this is quite a new medium, i guess. i've tried adding a few and downloaded them, but i guess i've been spoiled having an advert-free, incredibly well-funded radio station like radio1 available, because these seem to be mediocre at best.

i've so far only listened to the wider angle podcast 100 (rubbish) and 'a podcast elsewhere' (which i rather liked, but is v short). anyone know any really good dance/house mix podcasts?

[EDIT: i've now checked out friskyradio's podcast 010, which was pretty good... so i'd recommend them. plus, thier logo's cool!]
