Warhammer 40,000 "Squad Command" for DS and PSP

THQ-Games.com can officially announce that Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command will be blasting its way onto the PSP and Nintendo DS this autumn! The game will feature an original, immersive single player campaign and players can battle head-to-head with anyone in the world in nine unique multiplayer maps.

Oh cool! I really enjoyed Dawn of War, and even have a trunk full of miniatures from when I used to play Warhammer Fantasy Battle. This will be great to check out on the run. Here's hoping the title ROCKS!

I just put this up in the console section before seeing your post, but here's the info that they have so far (PSP version, no DS info really announced yet) :

Compelling single player game consisting of 13 unique missions
9 unique multiplayer maps for Local or Global games, with small, medium and large map variants to cater for games from 2 to 8 players
Fully destructible, real time 3D battlefields mean that no two games will be the same
Pick from two Space Marine chapters or two Chaos Space Marine Legions to play as in Multiplayer games, in battles between Imperium vs. Imperium, Forces of Chaos vs. Forces of Chaos, or Imperium vs. Forces of Chaos
Over 20 ranged and close combat weapons taken directly from the Warhammer 40,000 universe, including the Bolter, Plasma Gun, Chainsword and Power Fist


I'm hoping this is good, I really like strategy games on portables, they just fit really well with being able to stop and start whenever.

Well... if thats the case, I guess I would pick up the PSP version, although I would rather control via the stylus.

Ahh. Gotcha. I think I feel the same way about the androgynous characters in a lot of anime and games, especially when they are gripping phallic shapes (http://www.canmag.com/images/front/moviesetc/castlevania.jpg).

Yeah, Tactics Advance 2 is coming to the DS. I really hope it ends up being better than the first FFTA, I really didn't care for that one. Personally, I'm looking forward to Luminous Arc (http://media.ds.ign.com/media/848/848310/imgs_1.html) much more than FFTA2.

Good, good, good, yes, good news. Although I liked the original Tactics far more, I spent many a day at work playing the GBA version. Logged in over 150 hours on that game, never come close in any other game. I hope it changes the story, though, maybe a sequal to the original would be good. I must check out this Luminous Arc that you speak of. thanks

I to am rather disappointed that that the main chapter is the Ultramarines, though not really surprised. Also smurfs are awesome (http://ultramarines.ytmnd.com/).

Don't bother entering the contest on thier website unless you're in the UK. I'm glad they don't outline any of that until after you've signed up for thier online account.

But yes, this game looks like it's going to be awesome, and I'm glad that we're finally getting a WH Universe based turn based strat for the DS. It's about time.
