Nintendo Insider (http://nintendoinsider.com/) has interesting and lengthy new hands-on impressions (http://nintendoinsider.com/site/EEEAAuElkyQdFJRROM.php) with the Japanese version of Nintendogs: Dachshund & Friends. A quote from the preview:
My analysis so far? Nintendogs is a very addicting and long game. With over 100 items to collect, different competitions to master and new breeds of dogs and rooms to unlock, Nintendogs will keep you busy for months – even if dozens of hours are spent just petting the dog. But while Nintendogs is a long game, it doesn’t necessarily have a ton of depth. It’s like wine – everything in moderation. You’ll be playing the game for hours on end once you first get it, but you’ll soon find yourself just playing in short bursts to keep the dogs well fed and groomed, and to inch closer and closer to unlocking a new breed of dog. As noted, there are also limits in the game, so even if you wanted to engage in 100 competitions in one day or walk your dog every 10 minutes, you can’t.
