Good news for future XBox 360 owners. Rockstar Games of Grand Theft Auto fame will be bringing (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/28/news_6128269.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6128269) APB to the XBox 360 platform in 2008. Scottish game designer David Jones announced the formation of a new studio, Real Time Worlds Ltd., whose first game, All Points Bulletin (APB), would be a massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in "a highly volatile world filled with dramatic car chases, shootouts, busts, escapes, and arrests." Korean MMORPG publisher Webzen signed on to publish the game.

Sounds interesting...and a long way off.

Uh yeah, wake me when it's even 2006.

2008?!? Geez. Concept sounds like something I've been waiting for, but that's too far off to get excited at all.

Not to be a nitpicker, but as the quote says the game is being made by Real Time Worlds. It has nothing to do with Rockstar, which David Jones left years ago.

The game sounds pretty cool though, even if 2008 is a bit far off.

I think that blizzard didn't make WoW in just 2 years......

I think it is the same timeframe...

Let's hope this is one of several MMOs that make it to the 360. I've still got an empty space on my games shelf where an Xbox MMO should be.

you need to fix it on the main page now

Rockstar sells systems, that's a fact.

Selling systems in 2007 might be a little late though. Hopefully we have a new GTA on PS3 by then...and a possible Xbox port.

Yeah so now this post is confusing. So this title has nothing to do with Rockstar games, except that it's being done by a designer who worked there?

Nevermind: I see that he was a key GTA3 designer. Ok, makes sense.

I also found this gamespot interview which shed some light on the whole endeavor:

Sounds interesting, especially the idea that you can remain connected to the game world through your mobile phone, etc. I kinda like that. Bored in a meeting, check in to make sure my in-game finances are still in order or something. :)

After a certain time period, the main page is generated from a cache and therefore won't be updated... :(

What worries me is "MMORPG". This sounds like it should be an action title, not an RPG.

I think 3 years is a slightly premature announcement. It'll probably show up a year late to.

Well, GTA helps to sell systems, no doubt. But Manhunter was drek, Red Dead Revolver was lukewarm and the last Max Payne was average. Anyway, I thought their deal with Sony ended in 2004 with San Andreas. So, technically Rockstar could produce whatever they wanted whenver they wanted.

But whatever...Bully does seem to have an interesting storyline.
Plus, R-Star has made a ton of money with Sony so I don't think they would be to quick to starin that relationship.

You know, come to think of it... 9/10 times any MMO promised to come to be ported to a console is abandoned. I say 9/10 instead of 10/10 because of FFXI hitting the US PS2 (even though it was designed specifically for the PS2 and not ported), and also Everquest Online Adventures... Which although it wasn't a port, was part of the franchise, and was an MMO.

Needless to say, I'm skeptical of a console release. I'm still pretty pissed about not flying on a broomstick in True Fantasy right now.
