The Official Playstation (http://www.us.playstation.com/) site has the trailer (http://www.us.playstation.com/Content/OGS/SCUS-97472/Site/) for Shadow of the Colossus and it looks AMAZING...

I've had my eye on this game for a while but after seeing that, it just got bumped into "must buy" territory. Just... Wow

You're quite welcome! Almost hard to believe this is running on PS2 from the video.

Oh, and why are you so cheerful? Not that we're complaining or anything. :D

Being an avid lover of ICO, I'm greatly anticipating this but... I've read quite a few E3 reports on it and there were supposedly quite serious framerate issues in the game. I'll wait and see how the reviewers judge that.

But get ICO if you haven't yet. Even if it's the inferior US version with the horrid boxart.

Besides box art, why is the US version inferior?

TRiLoGY

because of NTSC maybe?

I dunno, just a guess...

This game looks unbelievable.

I have not yet picked up ICO. I always meant to, but never got around to it. Now it's so cheap and supposedly so good, I doubt I can pass it up. I'm still playing Katamari though.

The US version of ICO lacked a few additions made to the later released PAL and Japanese versions (as well as the fancy boxart those regions received). These included a sort of secret weapon easter egg, all of Yorda's speech being translated on a repeat playthrough, some other minimal bonuses, and a rudimentary co-op play mode. The US version is by no means a slouch, but if you can play imports I'd suggest hunting down the awesome cardboard box special edition PAL version, just for completions sake.

ICO was a great game, this should be awesome! I hope the framerate issues are just rumors or they get them fixed before release. Unless it totally cripples the game, I'll be picking this up DAY ONE!

What?! Positive comments on Evil Avatar?! I'm shocked... but I'll fix that.

I _hated_ ICO, so booooring. Saw the new one at E3, ran like a dog.

upon further examination of the trailer, I would have to concur with the guy above, and say this shit sucks. :)

The art is so well done. I demand prints be made available, or at least posters.

ICO is one of the best games i've played this generation on ANY system. Hell, it might be in my top 10 games of all time. Or at least, for the consoles.

Agreed. Amazing game in every way. It gets me excited for the future of gaming and what the medium can really bring.

Picked up ICO yesterday and I'm having a blast -- It is very refreshing to play an actual game again.

The characters are great -- dragging Yorda along never gets old.

First time ever playing it? I remember the coverart didnt interest me at all when i bought it years ago. I didnt know what to expect. But after playing just a little, i found that it WAS refreshing. Alot of the time there isnt even any background music, and so I felt like I was truly in a giant castle, pulling a girl behind me towards a distant tower, wondering when the shadows would pop up and grab at her, but also wondering what the next puzzle would be like. The vastness of the environments were great too...even though the game was essentially SMALL, i always had the perception that I was in a much larger, full-bodied world.

I want to go back and play this again, now. I cant because I have so many other games on the backburner, but I'm content to remember how great the game made me feel, and the sense of completeness it gave me. I wish there were more things like this around.

Is this supposed to be an insult?

Not so much as an insult to you, as it is an observation of gamers as a whole. I can be a mainstream videogamer, movie-goer, and music-listener...but I also can deviate and appreciate the stuff that doesnt line the shelves of EB with 20 copies. Not liking a game like ICO is definitely all right, as it is your opinion and it may not suit your tastes...but when people say that it is boring and overrated and/or crap it just goes to show the nature of the industry and its fans: the ADD generation is ever-growing and the only gamers who seem to be able to fully appreciate some genres and innovative gaming gems tend to be the older ones that remember when gaming wasn't JUST about the fast cars, big guns, and gigaflops of shallow gaming hidden under a sweet candy shell.

Can you tell that I am at times bitter with my gaming choices today?

You should go play Pac-Pix. I think it would make you feel better. -prescribes doctor_slim

Anyway, I'm finishing up a pseudo-review, so check it out when it's up. New-school gameplay, old-school values.
