According to VideoGamesBlogger (http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/06/14/new-soul-calibur-legends-details-reveal-the-wii-adventure-features-co-op-multiplayer.htm)and Japanese gaming magazine, Famitsu, the upcoming Soul Calibur Legends game for Wii will include the ability to play cooperatively with a friend through the game. The article covers a lot of other previously unknown details about the title as well:In addition to combat, players will have to deal with traps and other obstacles in dungeons. Stage layouts contribute to the fight as well; players will want to use height to their advantage.

Bosses also await. Players will be able to select two characters and freely switch between them, Famitsu states in describing one of the boss fights.http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa55/goodavatar/Taki.jpg (http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/06/14/new-soul-calibur-legends-details-reveal-the-wii-adventure-features-co-op-multiplayer.htm)

IGN has more details (http://wii.ign.com/articles/796/796073p1.html) about the upcoming Wii title.

Taki slaying mummies in Co-Op? I'm down with that.

Sounds cool. Now we just need some more screens.

Mummies? What mummies?

This is what they've been needing to do. Take the soul calibur fighting engine, and make it an action game. Although, -points for Wii controls. It may turn into more of a hack-n-slah than a deep fighter.

Co-op = This is my 'sold' face.

Anything to do with Taki is an automatic win in my book.

anything to do with COOP in a fighting game, let alone the best 3d fighter game, is an INSTANT seal of badassery

Odd question, but, why does the link cover the whole area between the quote and the IGN link? (Not just the picture itself but the page background.) Noticed this on a few other things and I'm wondering if it's a Firefox problem or just the way it was posted. Accidentally almost gave my computer a heart attack opening 12 or so tabs of that link.

As per the game, I really hope the dungeon thing is better than the 'dungeon' in the GC Soul Calibur, as that was really just a graphic change to the 'choose your battle' screen.

The <a> tag was outside of the <center> tag causing FireFox to render the space as a link. The article has been updated to remove that feature.

Ah, okay, thanks. Firefox has been acting wonky lately so I thought that was it.

Co op? On the same screen, with wii controls, and wii graphics?

I'm not sold.

While the latter two might have a decent point, how exactly is 'On the same screen' a detriment against it?

People play Wii Sports with two people jumping and flailing around, so I don't see a problem.

I'm really confused right now. Have people completely forgotten all previous generations of consoles? We've been playing co-op on the same screen with SD graphics for how long now? I don't understand why the Wii will magicly fail where its predesesors did just fine?

I'm a sucker for almost anything with any form of co-op. I'm a bit worried about Wii controls, but most larger franchises have developed some very intuitive controls, and I expect nothing less from the Soul Caliber developers. I'm pre ordering tomorrow.

If they do a split screen, then you will be losing much of the video fidelity you get from a strictly single player game. If it is a shared screen, then there will be no graphic quality loss (hopefully).

The reason why the Wii "magically fails" is due to the fact that we have moved past last generation. Graphically, the Wii is last generation, and "we" have moved on.

And? It's just like very other co-op game ever made.

So with the advent of HD, all SD content suddenly becomes unplayable?

As have PC Gamers moved past your generation. My PC scoffs at the pathetic abilities of your Xbox 360 and your PS3...and yet, I still find the Wii enjoyable and the graphics perfectly acceptable.

I'm still a little on the fence, but as long as it doesn't end up like Nina: Death by Degrees....

Here's hoping Link gets another cameo in this Soul game.

I wonder how conflicted Zeal is about this one ...

freaking awesome. i love same-screen co-op.

i will forgive a game its faults if you can play with two + people on the same screen. i.e. baldur's gate: DA for PS2.

Co-op rules, it made Mario Strikers a hell of a lot more fun. Especially online. Can't wait to see how it works out in this game.

Am I going to have to stare at Taki's and/or/+ Ivy's ass the whole time I'm playing? Because as enjoyable an experience as that might be, my wife would kick my ass.

Rex Dart

That'd make me willing to spend the $300+ for the system and game... as it is, I think it'd be a system seller for a lot of people.

Damn. I have only been fooling myself by thinking that some of my funnest gaming over the past year has been from the DS and the PS2. Even the fun I've had in the Wii has all been fake and nonexistant. And, how I played Fire Emblem the other day is fully beyond me!

I understand other short comings of the Wii from odd/flawed controls (or just limitations from the controller itself) perhaps... But I still don't see why graphics are constantly a : "OMFG WTF WII IZ GUNNA FAIL." I mean I still find myself enjoying games older than last gen today. Even more so than many new ones. I guess perhaps I should just praise FPS as king and move on though, even if I prefer my PC for that...
