Let's hope Uwe Boll doesn't direct this. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050627/film_nm/payne_dc;_ylt=AlVrBIO7DFWued0m7jygNpRxFb8C;_ylu=X3 oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl)

Who should play Max?

Ed Norton. End of story.

Ed Norton. End of story.
I don't know about that. I'll give you Primal Fear, American History X and Fight Club, but he's mailed in his roles in The Score, Death to Smoochy, and The Italian Job. The rest are so-so parts. His part in Rounders was alright. Recently though, I just can't get past how terrible he was in The Italian Job. It's like he was playing down to Marky Mark's level for that movie. I did like The 25th Hour though.

And looking at his IMDB profile, I see he was in Kingdom of Heaven, as were a lot of other people, so I may have to see that when it comes out on DVD. I was of the impression that it was pretty much an Orlando Bloom/Ridley Scott vehicle.

mel gibson, ala payback style, this is max payne 1 stlye of course, or we could get rip van winkle.

mel gibson is too freakin old.

I'm gonna go with the guy from Sin City that wears the converse shoes. I cant remember his name, but I think he'd be perfect, maybe not quite the same look as the guy in the game, but he is a great actor.

My other pick solely for his look, would be the guy from Resident Evil that gets turned into the nemesis.

Guy Pearce.

David Rasche since Stacy Keach is too old now.

I'd go with James Purefoy.

Keanu Reeves.

I just saw Constantine and that movie could easily be Max Payne with a few tweaks. Plus he is good at jumping, dodging bullets and floating around mid-air.

I think you're talking about Clive Owen (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0654110/)?

Guy Pierce gets my vote.

Clive wouldnt be too bad, actually. But i think the American Psycho would do a great job, too. You know, Batman. Christian Bale.

Or someone who can actually get his gruff voice down, and can make painful facial expressions. Clint Eastwood would have been great in his day.

THey'll probably get Jimmy Fallon or Adam Sandler and make it into a comedy though.

I'm gonna go with Thomas Jane (http://imdb.com/name/nm0005048/).

I think Clive Owen looks a lot like him; I also think any one of Guy Pearce, Christian Bale, Ed Norton, Matt Damon, or even Bruce Willis, if you dyed his hair black. Back in the days of Die Hard 1, I think he would have been a lock, long before Mel Gibson.

Gary Olman... he did a great job as the bad cop in the professional. Plus he's just a good actor.

I'm gonna go Bruce Campbell. C'mon folks. He da MAN. And Micheal Madsen sucked hard in the first 15 min of Sin City. I like em, but geez. He was balsa in that flick.

Madsen's too fat, as well, or a little out of shape. Max is a Oxycontin addicted nutcase, and as a result he is lean and fit.

Guy Pearce.

Think Memento.

You're damn right. Definitely the best actor for this role.

Kelegacy
06-27-2005, 02:23 PM
i dont know. Pearce still looks too much like a strung-out geek. I want someone tough as nails, but not a Rock-sized superstar.

I'll think of someone. I used to be a casting director in Hollywood. Or, at least I was once in a dream. Either way, I'll be back later with the perfect guy.

ezekiel61
06-27-2005, 02:24 PM
ummm, Bruce isn't exactly lean anymore... Olman damn it, Olman. Please don't get me wrong, Bruce is the man 4ever. Anyone read his new book yet "Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0312312601/qid=1119907386/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/103-2790990-3907050?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) " ?

That book is the greatest thing since his last book. I hope Uwe Boll directs this. His movies are some of the only video game adaptations that are not disapointing, because you know they are going to suck so good.

Keanu Reeves.

That's a joke, right?

"Whoa! They killed my wife and kid!"

Maybe Christian Bale? Why not?

Clint Eastwood would have been perfect, but my vote's on Clive Owen or Guy Pierce.

Xaerin
06-27-2005, 02:58 PM
Haha Clint Eastwood deffinitely has that whole squint expression down to a T but he's older than Gibson.
I'd have to go with Guy Pearce, Clive Owen could deffinitely pull it off but he's not really as lean as Pearce is.

I always thought Max was, at least lookwise, based off of a thinner version of Michael Madson. Aside from him, I always love to see Clive Owen get work (awesome in the BMW films). And Guy Pierce, with a little Black Hair Dye #7, would look the part well and is capable of acting.

Yes, and Memento. And L.A. Confidential. Oh, and not forgetting the completely horrible Australian soap, 'Neighbours' - although his on/off girlfriend (I think her name was Jane) was kinda lovely.

I'd go with gary oldman. He's getting up there in years but I think that could still work fine within the max payne storyline. christian bale would be good but he's way too recognizable.

also check out the video associated with that bruce campbell book on amazon... pretty funny.

I don't remember the story of the first game too clearly, but I remember the second pretty well. I wouldn't put Oldman as Max, but I think he'd do a damn good Vladimir Lem, if they chose to include the character.

Kelegacy

isnt gary oldman just a little too....old? Max was a pretty young guy, with wife and an infant child

How about Kiefer Sutherland from 24? He kicks some serious ass as Jack Bauer.

Vince Vaughn would be my pick. He kinda looks like Max.

Guy Pierce, for sure. The others are all too old/bad actors.

That is a DAMN FINE suggestion. 24 is one of the few great shows on television. He certainly handles the action/suspense well, but alas, he may be to old for the role. I always though Max in the first game was in his late 20's. I don't know, if they did some good makeup and got him to look younger, it could work.

Christian Bale is the person I always imagined in the role.

I always imagined John Malkovich being Vladimir Lem.

WIth max payne the look of the actor isn't as important as the ability to say the dialogue convincingly.

Guys, guys, guys... the only one who can play Max, including his mannerisms and the film noir voice has got to be (and I'm surprised the 24 callouts didn't catch this one)... Mr. Tony Almeida himself, Carlos Bernard.

Well he has the voice.

I'd go with that douchebag Tom Cruise with some lifts. He has some crazy facial mannerisms.

Bruce Campbell's reached the point in his career where every line delivered reeks of sarcastic undertone. Great for some movies (Bubba) but I think that would ruin the movie version of Payne. I mean, it was hard enough to take the game's voice-overs seriously as it is.
Even though he looks nothing like him, I nominate Vick Mackey from The Shield (and, I guess, the Commish). Vick Mackey is perfect for any more with guns, explosions, and death. He is a fucking badass. All hail Vick the Destroyer!

I got a bad feeling about this.

A movie based on a game that is based on a kind of movie, yeah smart... really.

This is kinda sad, all the action stars are old guys, and the new guys all had shitty movies (Vin Diesel and whoever else really for pure action)

This may be odd, but what about the guy who played Harry Osbourne from Spiderman 1 and 2? The young one, and was in City by the Sea, he seems to be preety good.

I would be totally behind a Keifer Sutherland Max Payne. That would kick ass. That and he would get to swear. Someone that busy in 24 hours with that many plot twists just cant convey anger well enough without any f-bombs.

Sebastian Spence.

To anyone who has seen First Wave - you'll know what I mean. He looks very similar, dressed the same, and had almost the same character.

It won't happen, but he's perfect.

I was in an Uwe Boll movie. Funny as hell, it was the worst thing I could imagine.

Steve McQueen, in his day would have been perfect. However, today with actors young enough to play it, Matt Damon (Bourne) I think could be good with some black hair dye, and as stated before, Guy Pearce.

Jason Gleason needs to play Max...... I wonder if he can act.
