I'm not sure this could look worse (http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0383222/iid_915759.jpg) then it does. As if the prospect of Uwe Boll directing isn't enough. Ugh.

Uwe Boll's involvement is all you really need to know. He is not capable of making a good movie.

hehe... When I look at the face of Michael Madsen I sense him thinking "Oh My God I'm in the worst movie ever made!". The guy on the left doesn't look too proud either.

I cannot believe an actor would ever want to work with Uwe unless they were extremely desperate. And Michael Madsen is a some-what brilliant actor (a bit typecasted though). He must have a shitty agent.

Looks like they ransacked the local Hot Topic for her wardrobe.

Qoz, do you not recognize Ben Kingsley in that photo? Seriously man...to mention Madsen as a good actor and not Kingsley...

...is this real?

The guy on the left is Ben Kingsley. He's also a good actor with an apparently horrible agent.

Look, if you're actually stupid enough to watch a movie, ANY movie, without relying on good newspaper/internet reviews first (they come out quick! Use Metacritic!) then you frankly deserve to have your money stolen from you. I have never had a problem with a tax on stupididy.

Ben Kingsley is a very good actor. He was really good in House of Sand and Fog.
Michael Madsen is horrid. He almost ruined Sin City for me in every scene he was in.

This movie will be bad, but to be honest I will probably rent it when it comes out just to see how bad it really is. Kind of like opening a container of food in the fridge and smelling it even though you know it is bad. Somethings you just have to see for yourself regardless of others opinions.

How did they get some of the people to do that movie? Ben Kingsly? Well, that's about it for respected actors anyway, but Meat Loaf was last seen in Fight Club in a good part. Who is this Uwe Boll person anyway? Never heard of him.

Oh, and Kristanna Loken could look the part of Bloodrayne. She looked good in T3 anyway. That picture they used for the poster isn't too good though. I haven't played the Bloodrayne games though, are they any good?

Remember, Ben Kingsley and Michael Madsen teamed up in 'Species,' too.

THAT is Kristianna Loken? They couldn't have gotten a worse picture of her if they had woken her up and yelled 'SURPRISE!'

06-27-2005, 12:15 PM
Oh yeah. Ben Kingsley! He is really good.
I just had a couple of minutes to ponder as to why I like Michael Madsen. It seems to me that his performance in Resevoir Dogs is the only thing I really liked. And he played the same type of character in Kill Bill (just a little more boring). It's the scene in Resevoir Dogs that is brilliant - not Michael Madsen.

I get it now.
Michael Madsen = bad. Ben Kingsly = good.

It's hard to believe that a good actor like Ben Kingsley would agree to be in a movie like this. Kind of like Jeremy Irons in Dungeons and Dragons.

Maybe it's just me, but the only reason why I am familiar with Bloodrayne is it's mention on Penny-Arcade, back when it was released (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2002-03-20&res=l) .

If that is the T3 chick (I can see a resemblence if I squint my eyes and use liberal dollops of my imagination), all I can say is WTF? Was she eating a little too good after T3 or is the photographer a complete amateur? She looks horrible.

Ben Kingsly's reason for doing this film is pretty silly, but he said something along the lines of "I've always wanted to play a Vampire." As for Madson, when recently asked why he is in some questionably bad films, he responded that often in Hollywood a film is sold to an actor in such a way as to be appealing and when you actually get down to the set and begin filming, it is completely different than "advertised."

IMDB.com had the trailer up at one time, a very rough cut and you could tell the music and special effects hadn't been finished. At least I hope that's the case because it looked terrible. Why does Uwe continue to make these horrible movies? Who is asleep at the studios when he comes knocking on the door for money?

Yeah, because you know whith gems like "Species" under Ben's belt this is a real shocker.

Maybe he's just got a blind spot when it comes to any sci-fi/fantasy settings?

I'm sorry, but 'ol Ben is really not that great. He did an excellent performance in Ghandi, but after that...uh...Sneakers? Species? every B movie made since 1980?

He has about one good movie a decade: Ghandi, Schindler's List, and House of Sand and Fog.

Of course, that's better than most actors.

Well I know why Meat Loaf took the role:

Picture Link from Bloodrayne website (http://www.bloodrayne.net/cgi-bin/galleries/br_movie_gallery/gallery.asp?ID=528) NSFW - btw.

But he does look like he's trying to pull a cross between Baron Harkonen and Liberace.

Bull's eye!

I'd love Uwe Boll to stop trying to make movies, however I am sure that will happen the same day Derek Smart will stop trying to make games.

I wonder if Uwe will be sued by White Wolf for 'ripping off the World of Darkness license'...

The real question is this... "Why do game devlopers keep selling their IP's movie righst to this assholes production company ?"Make a few quick bucks I guess, but you'd think, as hard as the game developers work on quality titles with quality stories, that they would attempt to make money the same way. Quality, instead of the "NEED MONEY NOW FAST STRIKE WHILE THE IRON IS HOT!!!!" method.

Wing Commander is a perfect example.... Great story that was utterly ruined.

Hmm, I like that Loken's looking more 'normal' these days. She doesn't quite match the image of the videogame character, but Angelina Jolie didn't exactly match the size and shape of Lara Croft either.

EDIT: Oh, and the movie looks like utter shite.

I just have to ask, how old are you?

Also, this movie looked terrible from the day Uwe Boll's name was next to it. Actually, probably before that. Why is this "series" so popular, anyways? I played a demo of the original and the sequel and they were both crappy.

ElectricMonk
06-27-2005, 04:53 PM
this series wasn't popular at all. in fact i don't know why people care that uwe boll is making a film out of it.

i found the tax loophole bit interesting:

so i guess that's how he manages to stay in business

Everything I've seen about this movie has disappointed me. I liked the games, not incredibly deep but they were fun. Someone needs to stop Boll before he destroys more games like this.

Why do they let Uwe Boll (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0093051/) make so many god damn films.

Oh and the tax loophole is proof that Germany is still the enemy and still attacking us. Just they use shitty films instead of panzers.

Judging from the poster and those images, I believe I have deciphered the plot of the film:

In a world (Because all movie plots must begin with that)... Driven for revenge, an unattractive woman seeks those who beat her with an ugly stick for three straight days. Along the way she enlists the aide of a native american and a man whose symbiotic relationship with his alien hair hold the key to defeating their enemies.

This is just a guess, but that is as close to the game's plot as he will come.

There's the internet trailer for the movie (watch out kiddies, its got boobies and Meat Loaf). It looks unquestionably bad, but at least there is blood and boobs. Sadly, that's all Uwe Boll seems to think is important in a horror movie. I mean, I love watching the worst of the worst horror movies....and the best drunk movies know how to not take themselves seriously, load up on the gore, boobs, and comedy, but Boll tries to actually be serious.....as if he is TRULY making the next Lord of the Rings or something.

Its really sad and pathetic to watch his internet posts, too.

I'll still watch this one on Netflix to see if its at least a decent drunk movie, but it will definitely bad. Blows my mind that actual actors and actresses still sign up for his movies, though.

dr_qwandry

2 points

1) For some reason they gave him the liscence for Far Cry

2) I read an interview in which he said that it's not for the fans of the source material and that he doesn't care that the movies he makes are not what they want. True enough that if you make a movie based on a liscence with a fan base what you TRY to do if appease the fans while still making the movie accesable for the common joe.
