Perfect Dark: Zero is the prequel to the hugely popular and critically acclaimed Perfect Dark. Set in the year 2020 — years before the original hit game — Perfect Dark: Zero reveals the origins of Joanna Dark, one of the most lethal special agents.

There is no jumping in PDZ, but you can perform an evasive roll, which is a much more realistic way of evading someone's fire than hopping around like a bunny. While in mid-roll, you can control its direction to some degree, which is great, as it prevents the other players from knowing exactly when and where you will come out of your roll, making it harder from them to hit you. Rare is making sure that this feature is well-balanced, so if you get shot during a roll, it will take off more damage. Additionally, you cannot shoot while performing a roll.Read the full Perfect Dark: Zero preview (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=25956) over at WorthPlaying.

WTF! Nae jumping? I would have thought that jumping in first person shooters was mandatory? I guess the maps will be REALLY flat then? Or will the player be required to walk round boulders, logs, walls, etc.

The lack of jumping has me miffed, but otherwise things are looking pretty good. For God's sake, though, someone murder those jaggies.

There was no jumping in Rainbow Six. Nuff said.

The first is like nothing seen before – the map will dynamically scale to a larger or smaller size, depending on the number of players.

Except in Battlefield 2.

No jumping? That really disappointed me in TimeSplitters. Are Brits physically unable to jump or something?

No jumping in a 3D game is stupid, end of story. I'm sick of it. We might as well be playing top-down 2D games if we aren't going to make use of the z-axis. This is something that pissed me off about Guild Wars as well.

I don't want realism in games, as it usually doesn't translate into fun gameplay, especially if the whole style and spirit of the game is done in a arcade manner, like Perfect Dark Zero (And console multiplayer in general)...

Leaving out jumping is like cutting off a man's.... thing. :(

Except in Battlefield 2.

That's no dynamic scaling. Maps have 3 different versions and that's it.

Agreed with no jumping. It's silly. Rolling however, I wonder how they're going to do it. Does your hitbox shrink? Can you roll repeatedly? I want answers to these buring questions.

Ugh. I want jumping! It just seems like a feature that probably wasn't fully implemented, but was forced to be scrapped because of time issues. It is much easier to program on two axis' as opposed to three. No climbing issues or anything come into play.

But how will we get over the crates?

Except in Battlefield 2.

That was the hype. The reality is different sized maps that an admin has to manually select.

With the exception of WoW how many other MMORPGs allow you to jump? Even in WoW being able to jump does not seem to serve much of a purpose unless you are one of those people who spends all day trying to get their character stuck in some ridiculous location.

After playing Guild Wars for a while I began to long for the jump button in WoW. :P
