1up.com (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3160131) is reporting that Assassin's Creed will be releasing on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this November.
As a huge fan of the Prince of Persia games, particularly Sands of Time, I'm really looking forward to this one.
Editor's note - Thanks to MacZero for a similar sumbission

This isn't really news at all until there is a concrete date. I think most of us expected the game to launch around November or sometime in the fall.

True, but it's always nice to have some idea of when such a high profile game will be released (I'm looking at you, Mass Effect).

It comes strait from Ubi, so its comcrete enough, methinks. I'm just assuming 27th and I won't be dissapointed.

There are too many good games coming out in a short period of time.
June: Overlord, The Darkness, Dirt
July: Project Sylpheed, VF5
Aug: Bioshock, Too Human?, Blue Dragon?
Sept: Halo 3
Oct: GTA IV
Nov: Assassins Creed, Mass Effect?
This maybe the best year for console game releases in a loooong time.
Edit: To be fair the PS3 is also releasing Lair, Rachet and Clank, and Drake too. It's a good time to be a gamer.

The combat looks very similar, and it seems to share a lot of the platforming roots, although vastly updated. Also, it's from the same team that made Sands of Time.

Maybe I'm cynical, but a release date of November screams 'might be unfinished' to me. It's the last conceivable time they can put it on the shelves and still get the majority of the holiday shopping season. Add that to the fact that no specific date was announced, and things could be grim.
Of course, that's just what an analyst would hypothesize.

I am surprised right there by just how many of those I am not anticipating. Dirt I look forward to, I enjoyed the demo, but will probably wait until a price drop before considering it as I have Forza for now, different game, but more than enough of a racing fix. I am only really curious about Blue Dragon, which I might rent at most. Halo I will wait for easily. GTAIV and Assassins Creed are the two big ones I have been waiting for and will more than likely buy on release or shortly there after. Thank dog, my wallet hurts.

Is this game at all like the Prince of Persia games? The acrobatics are supposed to be a tad closer to reality than the modern PoP games, and the combat is supposed to be more intricate, but it should feel instantly familiar to any PoP fan.

This is one of those titles that I think we all can agree, it will not be until late in the game that we see just how good it can be. For me, the combat in Prince of Persia was the crap I waded through until I got to the cool puzzles. Creed seems very combat oriented, with a sprinkle of stealth, and acrobatics for looks.

I still say they can sell a boatload of Prince of Persia games if they make them like they did in the style of the old days but with todays graphics...make it a almost 3D but sidescroller-semi topdown in parts etc..be creative..

I don't think it's acrobatics for looks at all. From the very start, they set out so that everything could be climbable. You don't set a huge goal like that if it's not an integral part of the gameplay.
Combine that with the fact that it's pretty easy to die if you get in large fights, and I think the stealth factors in more as well. And the stealth is going to be combined with the acrobatics part.

Isn't that what the updated version of PoP for XBLA like? I know they the 'original' but I'm pretty sure the modernized part is similar to what you described.

Well this was painfully obvious. In the GS books, it had a date of 9/25. This calibur game, regardless how good, cannot stand against the Halo machine. Good move, I say. Wish it was for sooner though.

personally i couldn't stand the prince games, too much jumping around, always felt like some stupid/modded spider man games.
hopefully they toned down the jump, twirl, jump action a bit in this game, otherwise its another bargain bin ebay special when i get bored, to me.

Dammit! This is the only game I've pre-ordered and it keeps getting delayed. Son of a bitch.
Well, I did pre-order GoW, but that was after the street date was widely known.

The videos tweaked my interest in this game. I just want to see the results of the "Which console will have the better AI" debate come to an end-although people say the 360 already won.
Either way, I like the crackdown-esque system of climbing-if there's an edge, you can grab it.
