I wonder what happened to the whole guild sign-up thingy we did on EA a while back for Warhammer Online. Weird.
rtfnewsletter :P
The EA Mythic team would like to thank all of the guilds forthe overwhelming response! We received over 10,000 eligible guild applications and we are now making our selections. Members of the WAR Community Team will be contacting invited guilds shortly with details on how to get into the Closed Beta.
ava, there is an european site to register http://www.war-europe.com/
anyhow, i didnt recieve any confirmation email till now, but i was already signed up to the newsletter and had an us "account", i hope it worked out ;)

Well, the confirmation e-mail was in my Spam box. And then it asks for a dxdiag file of your system specs, which sucks, because I'm at work. When did they stop just allowing you to enter in your own system specs?

Open beta is now closed.

sorry i didnt specify, i was talking about the european sign up, so i dont know if there are any differences. in my case however registry and submitting the dxdiag file all happend in one process without any confirmation email, so maybe europeans dont get one. my spam folder is empty also

I believe this is the correct response. (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/04/10)

They stopped letting you just input your system when they realized that people were fundamentally dishonest and saying they had a screamer machine when they really had a POS.
As for the beta being closed, it's odd. The main page says 'Beta is Closed. Sign up!'
So, it's closed now, but sign up anyway? WTF?

I'm confused. Does this app need to be filled out on top of the newletter subscription (which was originally the only way to get a beta spot)? And more importantly, did Kefkataran get a guild invite for this yet?

Because children, the internet and a free brand new game is going to inspire the liars.
People already lie about their previous beta experiences, why not their system specs as well? It's amazing how many people call playing in every open beta (aka demo days) extensive testing. Maybe I'm just a jaded software developer, but nothing 'extensive' occurs that close to release. It's more like 'customers complaining loudly because the game doesn't have blah blah feature.'
Back on track, the thing is, lying about your system specs will actual cause more problems than just telling the truth. If everyone claims to have an ultimate machine, you lower your chances of getting picked than if you are the one person at min specs. Gotta test the whole range of specs with pc games. But, try explaining that to some 13-15 yo kid that just wants a free game to play.

It says in the newsletter (if you have read it yet) that you also have to sign up this way using the same e-mail address you used to sign up for the newsletter. For signing up to the newsletter prior to actually signing up for closed beta you get a higher chance to get into it.
Oh, and the site doesn't say "The beta is closed, sign up now!" it says "Sign up for the beta!" followed by something that looks written by a greenskin that says "beta wot is closed" which is kind of like saying "The beta that is closed," or "closed beta." Not that the beta signups themselves are closed, it's just referring to the current stage of beta.
Edit: meaningful parts bolded and last bits clarified :o

Oddly, as soon as I read my newletter I understood that it was saying Closed Beta, and not The Beta is Closed. I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.

Thanks! Looks like I'll have to do this when I get home from work.

It's a closed beta (not everyone will be accepted), but it looks like they're still taking applications. I'm heading home for "lunch" so I can give 'em my beast's stats.

You can always change your dxdiag after registration, as well as any other info. Or just wait until you get home, I'm sure there's no rush.

Comparing Warcraft to Warhammer is like comparing carebears to darkhearts, except the darkhearts have grotesque appendages and additional orifices with pointy teeth protruding from their body that they will use to devour you, poop you out and wear whats left of your remnants as a hat.
in otherwords warhammer>warcraft
that is all.
Someone needs to resurrect that bigass EvilAvatar Warhammer clan thread. I definitely want a key for this game.
Oh by the way, it was brought to my attention that some beta codes for print and media have already been sent out.
Is anyone here actually playing this game yet?
