Could Nintendo's DS connect to the XBox 360 (http://xbox.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=5148) as well as Sony's PSP? Technews World seems to think so:The technology would allow users of the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS to connect with the Xbox 360 and then play Microsoft's games online.

What the hell does "play Microsoft's games online" mean? Is the 360 going to act as a tunneling service?

Thanks Joystiq.com (http://www.joystiq.com)

They must mean over the devices' wireless links, seeing as you can already play MS games online through the 360. Which is insane.

So could you play live through a hacked psp to alter games without violating your TOS? sounds unlikely

Or maybe MS will develop 360 games that have unlockable content via the DS or PSP version of that game? Could be pretty exciting.

Yes, I can see Sony AND Nintendo getting together and saying, "Let's make unlockable content for Microsoft!"

something tells me it would act more like a wireless router than anything else.

They might also make it a controler. but who knows. i'm sure someone will try it if MS doesn't.

I'm guessing the connectivity would be limited to things like data sharing. For example you might be able to transfer the mp3s on your PSP to your 360.

xbox360 increases sales of psp/ds, xbox360 gets more features, everybody wins

Um, Microsoft has already stated they they may develop for one of the handheld systems... so they can develop the content themselves. Microsoft could make much dumber moves than helping Nintendo's DS do well against Sony, if you think about it.

I'm hoping for some clarification, because this sounds like drunken nonsense.

I'm pretty sure MS already confirmed the 360 can access mp3s on PSPs, iPods, or anything else that acts as a USB drive.

Right, right.

I don't see how the USB-less DS can connect with the Xbox 360 in any significant way.

I'm not sure how accurate the other tidbit on that website is (about the Revolution controller patent) but if Nintendo is dumping the analog stick for gyroscopic control.. on the surface I'd call that the dumbest move of all time..

I thought the DS has wi-fi? I would imagine it connects like that.

It does, I assumed it would use wi-fi as well.

We hear Microsoft calls this newfangled technology, able to connect to both the PSP and the DS... WiFi! More details on this emerging technological breakthrough as they become available.

They all have 802.11b/g installed. I'm sure it will just be some stupid transfer universal file types (mp3, yadda yadda) over to each other.

I propose a moratorium on conjecture and bullshit hype in the gaming world. k.thx.bye :(

They probably mean MS' DS games, should they make some. Rare continued to make GBA games, under the Microsoft Game Studios line.

xbox360 increases sales of psp/ds, xbox360 gets more features, everybody wins
...and gamers spend more on XBox360 and less on Revolution/PS3, game development shifts to Xbox, and Microsoft wins in the end.

This show is good but it always seems ends the same way...

If any of you actually watched the E3 presentation of the 360, you would have seen/herd them state they would develop for the PSP. They even had a picture of the psp for devices supported.

It seems bizarre to see inter console compatability.
I mean try this little experiment.
Open up MS word.
Type in the words "xbox", "playstation" and "gamecube".
Guess which is the only one of the three words that microsoft doesn't assign a wiggly little red line to?
Just seems bizarre to me to go from this state of not even acknowledging the other consoles, to developing things between the platforms. Especially with the recent MS stunt against Sony in Paris.
