EA has released a demo for HB Studios' Cricket 2005, allowing you to try out a portion of a cricket game between between England and Australia at the Lord's cricket grounds.

In addition to the international teams and bonus squads, you can now play with domestic teams and compete in England, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The all-new Twenty20 tournament will be fully licensed with season modes also on offer. You can grab the Cricket 2005 demo (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=26310) (280mb) off WorthPlaying.

Um....no. I'm not playing a game that is considered to be more boring and slower than baseball. Baseball.

I'll wait for Brian Lara International Cricket, considering this is EA. Also I've seen the create a player for BL, you can change where the sunscreen is on a player's face. Those are real cricket fans. Also I hate 20/20 cricket.

And how dare you knock the greatest sport in the world! We have the convulted rules of 2ndED AD&D with length of a 40,000 point Warhammer game. Really, how many games has the age of the ball as a major element of play?

For those of us down under, 3dGamers (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/cricket2005/) has some Australian mirrors.

I don't know about it being more boring than baseball, but it's certainly more civilized. I mean, just look at Shane Warne.

Best thing about cricket, both sides are cheered by everyone (usually, things have degraded slightly in recent years). You support one side more, but when someone makes a fantastic catch you cheer like crazy, doesn't matter which side made the catch.

When I cannot go to sleep tonight after a few rounds of BF2, I'll give it a shot...

Hey, if you do download this demo, be sure to grab "Tommy Lasorta's Skittles 2005." Oh, and be sure to post your name and distinguishing physical characteristics so I can drop some HIlarious early-90s style "Snaps" on you.

SNAP!

All I know about cricket, I learned from Life, the Universe, and Everything.

To me this sounds like an idea whose awfulness borders on satirical, not that I like sports games much to begin with.

Same here.

There was this one time...once when I was camp (ages ago) we had tons of foreign counselors (not sure why) and a few were from England. I remember talking to them about cricket but I didn't get it.

Though it was funny seeing how much they understood about baseball. We played a game and a couple of the english counselors were in the outfield. They refused to wear baseball mit. Then one of them broke their hand catching a high fly.

Cricket balls are harder then baseballs (though smaller). Broken digits is nothing new to us.

Why do you think batsmen have armour plated gloves?

To protect them from the bigger kids who throw rocks at them?

I wonder... maybe I'll download this and just learn some of the rules of the game. I've always had a (very small) interest in learning more about cricket.
