Week Twenty-Two of the Comic Day! comics discussion thread (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30357) has been posted! Join us there this week, as every, for in-depth and enjoyable discussion of what comics are coming out this week and what we've been reading. Take a gander at Diamond's shipping list (http://www.diamondcomics.com/shipping/shipping_052307.txt) if you want an idea of everything coming out this week before you post. My picks of the week:
Casanova Vol. 1: Luxuria HC -- Casanova has carved out a place for Matt Fraction as "The Next Big Thing" in comics. His writing, both in terms of overall plotting and panel-to-panel dialogue is insanely frantic. This collection is not to be missed by anyone who didn't pick up the issues.
Fell Vol. 1: Feral City TP -- Fell is probably one of the best things Warren Ellis has ever done, and that's coming from an Ellis fanboy. Intelligent and ocassionally brilliant gritty crime drama that also plucks at the heart strings. GET IT.
Loaded Bible 2: Body of Christ -- The sequel to Tim Seeley's blasphemously good 2006 one-shot finally arrives! Think of it as Jesus vs. Vampires. Yep, sold.
Question of the week: August solicitations for Marvel (http://www.newsarama.com/marvelnew/aug07/solicitations.html) and DC (http://www.newsarama.com/dcnew/aug07/solicitations.html) are here, with plenty of new books (Booster Gold, Black Adam, Spider-Man/Red Sonja, etc.) coming from each. Who's got the more exciting solicits this month and what will you be adding to your pull list?
We've also got a brand new episode of Johnny Gigawatt and the Tiger Men From Mars (http://tigermen.podshow.com), Evil Avatar's brand new comics-focused podcast. In Episode 5 (http://www.podshow.com/shows/?mode=detail&episode_id=61935) we discuss our thoughts on Spider-Man 3, Fallen Son: Death of Captain America, and DC's latest weekly book, Countdown.
