Good news for those of you awaiting the PC title F.E.A.R. According to Gamegossip (http://www.gamegossip.com/comment.php?id=13812), Vivendi has bumped up the released date from Fall 2005 to Summer 2005.
Bumping games up could become my new favorite industry trend!
Great news if the game is actually ready to go, but if it means we're all gonna get a bug laden, half finished game then I'd rather wait a while.
I hope I'm being pessimistic.

If its a complete game rather then a bug filled one, then this is very good news. FEAR is one of the games I've been looking forward to lately.

Sweet. My summer is looking pretty empty video-game wise. Remember that Summer extends for another three months, so we're probably looking at a September release.

I've been in game development for a while now and I've never seen an early release be a good thing. The developers plan down to the last minute, if marketing pushed up the release we better hope they can compensate in time, and even if they can it's sad they don't have more time for polish.
I'll take my games late and finished thanks.

A single-player demo would be really nice.

That would make too much sense though.

I agree we need a single player demo. I would like to be able to test how this runs on my system before I buy it and play a slide show.
The MP beta has worked pretty well for me, though, and I guess once you figure in lag a single player demo would only work better, though if I had to run it off a cd it would be worse, so it's kind of a crapshoot anyway.

Demos? I remember those. They've made me buy more crappy games...

Bumping up is never good. It is generally a reaction by management that the original release date would have too much competition and so they are moving the release date to avoid that. Bumping up thus results in less development time.

If it's only generally such a reaction, then it can't be always bad or never good. Obviously bumping up results in less development time, but that means there's two possibilities. The first, and probably, yes, most likely, is as you said that it's a reaction from management. The second and more hopeful (and still quite possible, I think), is that they're just ahead of schedule and want to release early.

I am so excited for this one, and I remember hearing June 07 originally for it, and I think that the time they thought they needed was an exageration. I sure hope so, a lot of the stuff I have seen is really positive for gameplay, I just hope they took time to write a good story. Clive Barker would have been great for this title and Hes written a game before, so....maybe an expansion or a sequel.

Stop, you better take that Ace of Base shirt and leather jacket off first. People get lynched for less these days.

Clive Barker helped with Undying, and he's working with Terminal Reality and Majesco on a new horror title for the Xbox360 called Demonik. I met him at E3 this year when he was promoting it. Nice guy. :)
Nothing here yet but the game logo: www.demonikgame.com
"Players take on the role of a powerful vengeance demon named Volwrath, who is summoned to Earth by humans seeking revenge against those who've done them wrong in some way. Although bound by his human masters, Volwrath gets stronger and stronger with each summoning, ultimately becoming powerful enough to break the chains that bind him and take over the world of those he once served."

Remember though Demos saved us when it came to Daikatana (sp?)
I was about to buy it and couldn't wait so I got the demo, and BAM! no shit stain on my HD.

Is it too late to mention that F.E.A.R. hasn't been bumped up? The single player demo is due in August and the retail game is coming out in October.
Sorry.

By Sarok's standards, this site should be banned from itself for lying to us. :(
