Gamespot has the first look (http://www.gamespot.com/psp/action/godofwar/news.html?sid=6170972&mode=previews) of God of War: Chains of Olympus, a prequel being developed for the PSP.
http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t147/beansoe/gowpsp.jpgThe game tells an original story set in the not-so-fun time between the unfortunate death of Kratos' family and the start of the original God of War. You'll catch up and take control of Kratos as he's winding down a siege in Attica. Some trouble ensures and he finds himself heading off to track down a dragon-like creature intent on stomping everything "Godzilla" style. The chase will run throughout the city and culminate in a minigame wherein you show him what's what by carefully hitting specific buttons.
I'm still wary of action titles on the PSP, but if you were to make one that was specifically designed to interest me, this would be it.

Don't worry. If it's anything like any of the other PSP exclusives, you'll see it on PS2 a few months after release.

That's one part of owning a PSP that really bugs me. They make it somewhat pointless by releasing all of it's exclusives on the PS2 as well...

I wouldn't bet on that one, the only games that come to mind that have done that are the 2 GTA games, hardly a trend.

And this game is being made by the same devs that did Daxter on the PSP, a great action/platformer that plays perfectly without the need for a second analog stick. I'd be skeptical, but they have a good track record.

I tried to play some action titles on the PSP but it just seemed to me that it (the PSP display) would get blurry. It was weird. Gave me a sense of nausea.

Lumines also got ported to PS2
Loco Roco is likely to be ported to PSN (at least that's the rumor)
Grip Shift (which I liked a lot) was ported to PSN

I dunno. When I think of best selling games on PSP, a few come to mind.
GTA, Lumines, and Loco Roco. Two of the three franchises have been ported, and the last likely will be.
If God of War is a big seller (which, come on... obviously it will be) I can definitely see it being ported to PS2, which has a large install base to sell more copies on.

Sure seems like a trend to me.

Yes, it's not as bad as I made it out to be, but the best sellers seem to get ports.

1. This is a big enough title that not going to the PS2 would be almost like throwing away money - but it's a Sony company, so you might be right. They might "throw it away" to try to get more PSPs sold, but isn't the PSP doing well from the price drop?

2. I didn't like Daxter's control. . . I guess I want my handheld games to be turn-based all the time and it is one of the reasons that the PSP has less appeal for me than the DS despite superior graphics (well, and longer battery life). I don't really travel enough for either system and when I owned them, they just collected dust. . . I don't know; I guess I'm not the market for this and maybe my opinions should be discounted.

What you experienced is probably due to the extensive ghosting on the PSP screen. It isn't a very good display screen. It is bright, but the sloppy blur is very distracting.

I've never had an issue with ghosting on my PSP. From what I've heard, older models (from around launch) do have an issue with it though.

This looks/sounds sweet. And I could care less if it goes to PS2 later as it won't make my PSP experience any less fun. I got a PSP after the recent price drop, there is a small amount of ghosting when turning quickly in 3D games (vice city) but it hardly makes things unplayable. I may be one of the only, but I like my PSP alot.

It doesn't happen on every game. Ratchet and Clank is the worst though, which is too bad cause I really wanted to give it a try.

I use the PSP for mainly PS1 and puzzle games anyway.

Lumines should be a part of the food pyramid.

Bah, haters.

This is gonna kick ass. The big problem with PSP action titles is the camera, in GoW, the camera is fixed. So it should work well.

I submitted a news article a while back with information on how to attain a free UMD demo of this game through their official website, but it was never posted either as news or in any of the forums. Sort of a shame.

That information went up, though I believe it was part of a larger newspost that Bap put up regarding the announcement of the game.

God of War was the game that got me to buy a PS2 and it just might turn out that GoW MAKES ME buy a PSP.

We shall see what we shall see.

I don't get much ghosting at all on my PSP - very occasionally in very fast games. Either there's something different about my eyes or different about my PSP, but I can't imagine anyone complaining about the very minor ghosting I see.

Same here Estarriol. I rarely have ghosting issues with my PSP. Maybe it's just me? My psp is a newer model...
