Boy I feel silly ;)

Did they fix the bug where no one points out that this is quite possibly the first DX10 demo for PC?

Those of you with an LCD monitor that will not run in 1280x720 don't bother trying to run this demo.

Hmm, 20 fps.
And this computer can run any game I throw at it with all settings on high.
I think I'll continue to stick with DX9 games for now.
This game is not one I would really want to buy anyway.

Yeah this game is a TOTAL HOG. It is killing my system. I had everything on high at first and it politely told me to turn down the settings and made me quit! Hahaha. Wow. I can play every other game I own at native resolution 1680x1050 with my 7900GT on medium/high settings. This demo is incomplete even for a demo. Press B to go back

Use that info to get it running in Non-fullscreen mode if your monitor does not support 1280x720.

I expect the DX10 version won't work with Vista and a DX9 card? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but the phrasing on the Steam demo page ("A version of the Lost Planet Demo that takes advantage of DirectX® 10 is available for Windows Vista users.") makes me wonder.

Wow, made my X1900XTX overheat nicely! I'd like to see some comparison shots with the DX10 version.

It sucked alot of ass for me, I've got an aging rig p4 2.4 6600gt 1gig of ram, so I didn't expect much form the DX9 version but damn it wouldn't even run smoothly in 600x480, and it looked like ass to boot then too. Ah well, seemed mildly amusing, maybe when I get a 360(soon) I'll rent it or buy it.

Great... another craptastic port.
I can run Stalker, HL2, Oblivion with all the bells and whistles and this gets the System Hog award. LOL.

Yep, the DX9 version runs like crap. I'd like to see how it works in DX10, for all we know they could have put all their effort there.
Probably not, though, this is likely just a crappy port.

I have this for 360 and can tell the PC folks that they're not really missing much. The character design is nice with two glaring exceptions, and most of the other artwork is pretty nice but the gameplay is shallow and even what I would consider broken in some instances.
If you play through the single player campaign, do it without using the plasma rifle at all, you'll have more fun and it will be a bit more challenging. I'd avoid the sniper rifle too. The main reason to avoid both of these is because beyond a certain range the enemy AI will not respond in any way to incoming fire. They'll just stand there and let you kill them from range. This may have been fixed in the PC port.
Post grab was the most interesting multiplayer mode, but like all modes for the game it suffers from weapons that pack little oomph and a combat model that features juggling. A good player will knock you down and you'll never get out of the fall down/get up animation sequence until you're dead.

I've got a 7900gt and oddly enough, the game runs like crap if I have Motion blur set to low. If I set it to high, 40~60fps. It seems like it's a pretty fickle game unless you get the settings balanced just right for your system. There's also options for using mutlicpu/gpu.

I have it on the 360 too. Sorely disappointed. Played through about 1/2 way and simply got bored with it. Even the worst anime plot is better than the plot in this game. Seems like a snow covered ice world is a nice way to avoid creating an environment.
