id Software and Activision have launched a teaser site for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. The site can be found at www.enemyterritory.com (http://www.enemyterritory.com). The site features the E3 trailer and some insight into the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars backstory.
Cool looking game, but I'm not buying anything with the words "Enemy Territory" in it after the total crap fest that was Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. That game sucked more than most unfinished mods.

Can't see the hate for somthing that was free, and decent at worst.
yeah, that is pretty crazy to compare it to an unfinished MOD. I thought it was actually pretty fun, while not the greatest though.

Personally I hated Enemy Territory.
Although, i've never played it, seen it, or even heard of it until this news post.

you've got to be kidding me, complaining about a FREE multiplayer game thats pretty darn good (pretty similar to RtCW vanilla, which was widely considered to have excellant multiplayer). Methinks the author of this post had gotten his ass handed to him one too many times for his liking in that game or something...
Im psyched about this, personally.

Well, if I was going to host a site named after myself, I think I'd exercise the right to troll now and then. :)

Why should it matter if it was free? It was still crap. Shitty level design, amateuristic models, cluttered interface, it was one of the worst things I've ever had the displeasure to try.
And you can tell that Activision felt the same way, since it was designed to be a retail product and it was such crap that they just dumped it on the 'net for free.

Also, keep in mind that Evil liked Killzone.
Liked Killzone.
Didn't like Enemy Territory.
I think someone's been dipping into the conviscated tits.

i think this game looks promising, but i hope every level dosen't take place in a rocky lifeless desert.
it'd be cool to have some forest levels etc

Just because something is free doesn't mean you have to like it, or that it's automatically good.
AIDS is free... do you all want AIDS?!?!?!
Didn't think so. I think I've proved my point here. Now I'm going to get me some free dirt from my backyard. Gunna drink that down with some free urin from my cats vagina.

Sorry Evil, ET was great. I got totally hooked on that game for like a two whole months.
Judging from the number of people playing on the net, I wasn't the only one.
Oh well, I guess there's no accounting for taste. Please enjoy your cat urine, UnderHero.

I think Evil and a lot of people here suffer from what I like to call the "Old Man Syndrome" of gameplay. They can't hack with real competitive games so they move onto dumbed down pieces of shit from other company's. Kinda' like sports, not everyone can be on the A squad.

I guess id thought Enemy Territory sucked so much they released it for free instead of canning it (unlike the single player campaign of Enemy Territory) and had Splash Damage do another Enemy Territory game.

Things have gotten a little sidetracked :) I'd just like to say I watched the trailer and it looks pretty cool! I'm looking forward to seeing more. If it's as fun as BF2, I'm there.

Enemy Territory wasn't great, but it was fun, and free. Which is a lot more than can be said for that crapfest Killzone.

You know what you suck, i enjoy this game imensely, with osp mod with this game its even better. I think it is one of the better team play mods on the web and i dont even think the modeling is too bad. Remeber this game also signified the launch of the engine it was powered by because it was released for free so any game can make a game of quake 3 quality ala rtcw add'ons.
While there hasnt been any games that have actually been released this way, i am still hopeful Urban Terror does the job.

Well just have to agree to disagree.
And from what I heard, they released it for free not because the multiplayer sucked, but because the singleplayer portion wasn't up to snuff.
I take it you didn't like RtCW either, then?
AIDS is free... do you all want AIDS?!?!?!
Actually, as I understand it, a lot of people end up having to pay for the opportunity to get said disease which then more or less doesn't make it free. And, one could even go out on a limb and say that a guy (if we're taking this from a male's perspective) has to buy his female companion multiple drinks in order to be given that same opportunity.

Sheesh I usually agree with you but that was an AWESOME mod. I played the shit out of it, still do when I get time...

Lies!
If that's the case then Enemy Territory wasn't free because I had to buy a PC to play it, and pay for an internet connection.
AIDS is free if someone bleeds and I rub the blood into an open wound. Zero charge, baby.
And the urin was so tastey. I gargled it for several minutes.
Oh, and on topic, Quake Wars looks sweet.

Gotta agree with the fellas, Avatar. ET was pretty awesome.
I owned in the game, but that's beside the point.
Urban Terror (urbanterror.net)'s coming out for ET soon, so look out for that. Back in highschool I abused beta2 like crack. It was that good.

Exactly. Therefore, we have established ET was not free as it did come with the purchase of a PC
In order to go outside and come in contact with a person to rub and get things in your wound, you would have needed to purchase clothes to be seen in public. Through said clothes purchasing, you have now spent money and your argument, unfortunately, no longer holds. You've still paid for it.
I'm not entirely sure what you gargled, but I tend to gargle urine. All the cool kids are switching over from urin as it's the healthier, cleaner alternative.
Quake Wars = smooth.

I played the game only once, and the reason why i didn't like it? Like in RtCW, the guns sucked. Yeah, in a game that's all about shooting, it does matter.
Of course they suck, until you gain experience with them. That was the most compelling part, during the course of a "campaign", you raised in rank, and your "skills" improved, like in an RPG. And you also got "experience" for doing team-play related things (e.g. reviving team mates, giving them ammo, disarming landmines, etc etc etc) God I loved that game. You could go around with the mortar, setting up a firing position, and rain down fire on people across the map, especially if you had someone as a covert ops (I believe) where your targets were because any enemy around a friendly covert ops shows up on the map screen, as do your previous shot fired, and any artillery strikes a field ops might have called in. Good stuff!
And, as I understand it, they released it as a free multiplayer mod because they couldn't get the bots to work right, or something to that effect. I can't wait for this new enemy territory game to come out. I hope it's just as good, if not better.

No, they sucked as in it wasn't any fun to shoot em. And the game seemed way too fast paced for any tactics.

Enemy Territory was very cool. I loved the snow maps. Nothing wrong with being free also :)
Now it seems like a total joke compared to Battlefield 2.
Let's see how Quake Wars compares to BF2. I can't wait to try it out!

ET wasn't bad, which is a pretty high accolade considering my pathological dislike of WW2 shooters.

Looking forward to this game lots and lots. I clicked on the story and :D there is no story at the mo.
Is it just me but i get a strange buzz when its humans vs aliens! I like the thought of current/near future human weapons vs aliens and their tech. It makes me wanna say 'eat this strogg MOFO!'
For a free game, it's one of the best.
Even if it had cost 10 bucks, I'd still have had a blast with it. It really is a fun game to play.
I like the levels and the gameplay is superb, the only thing that sucks is that there are only 6 levels. But, you cant really complain since it's free.

why not just download new maps like the majority of real players do?

Because theres some unwritten rule that most rtcw/et user made maps suck complete ass, and aren't worth the 2 minutes to download.

Some of the user made maps were pretty cool. I liked the Indiana Jones one (steal the idol, capture the sub) and the haunted house one (not because it was even remotely balanced, but because it was novel).
Now what sucked in the game was loosing your pants. If you lost your pants, bad shit was gonna happen.
That and level 4 FO's who knew what they were doing. Ouch.

Now hold on there, Sparky. I never dissed anyone else's game. If Evil likes killzone, so be it. It's all about the fun, and I don't critisize anyone else's idea of fun (unless it's Michael Jackson. Ick).
All I did was stick up for ET, and state that I had fun with it. I thought it was great, and I still do. So I'll probably check out this new game too. But I'm not dissing anyone else's game either.
