SEGA has announced today that it's XBOX 360 launch title, Condemned: Criminal Origins will be seeing a sequel on both the PS3 and XBOX 360.
From IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/787/787129p1.html):
Condemned 2: Bloodshot puts players in the identity of Ethan Thomas, a former Serial Crimes Unit investigator. His former partner has gone missing, forcing him to be called back to duty. Ethan's disturbing past has left him a shell of his former self, described by SEGA as a "desperate burnout" who is forced to fight inner demons throughout his investigation.
The sequel will feature an new fighting system that adds defensive and offensive combos along with grapples and holds to the already present arsenal of firearms and blunt tools. New forensic tools are also being promised that allow murders to be solved in a number of different ways.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the announcement is that Condemned 2: Bloodshot will include several online multiplayer modes, including a deathmatch variant. Get your arms ready to swing pipes online.
No release date has been announced yet.
A lot of people seemed to really like the first Condemned, it's great to see it get a sequel. I'm not too sure how this style of game would work online, though, especially in a deathmatch type setup.

Awesome, I can't wait for this. I loved the original Condemned.

Hopefully it won't be as framey on the PS3 as FEAR which uses the same engine....burn ;)
I thought the original Condemned was awesome and it really freaked me out at times. I'm looking forward to a sequel.

Great news. Loved the first one. Is this the same main character we met in the first game? If the gameplay is similar to the first game I don't see the point in including multiplayer.

I wouldn't mind seeing the forensic tools used in more varied and less obvious ways. The original Condemned stopped just short of making their use a cut-scene.

The first Condemned was easily my favorite 360 launch title. I love the sound of the new fighting system with defensive moves and grapples. Kick ass.

I was a huge fan of Condemned as well. I still cant' go into run down department stores for Christmas shopping because of it. ;)

I'm really anxious to see the multiplayer to boot. I'd love to see them take a page from the HL2 mod The Hidden, (http://www.hidden-source.com/) as creepy multiplayer when done right is a complete blast.

I couldn't help but laugh at that part in the game where he was searching for a "dead body" while he was literally stepping over other dead bodies that were either already there or that you had just beaten to a pulp.

Yes I will be playing this, big fan of the first.
The first one won me over with its great atmosphere, as long as the second one continues on a similar theme I'll be picking it up.

What's a sequal? Some sort of Seagull?
Anyway...
Great news. Not surprising or anything but great news nonetheless.

Yes! Oh god, yes. Before playing Condemned, a game hadn't scared me that bad since playing RE 2 in the dark when I was young. The Christmas department store and the backalley scene where the bum decimates a cop still kinda haunt me to this day. In a good way. Thats one of the few games I've had to take breaks not because I was bored, but because my mind needed a mental breather for reality to sink back in. Can't wait for this one, the new combat system just sounds like icing on the cake.

Absolutely. Great story, even better atmosphere...but a little more realism, a little less magical CSI work.

Not really trying to take out next-gen, it's just that all platforms are on the market so it's current gen imho. If either Wii or PS3 weren't out yet, I'd still call it next-gen but everything got released.

I know, but you still see "next-gen" in a lot of press releases and marketing.

Hope this new system doesn't screw with it too much.

Condemned : Criminal Origins will be seeing a sequal on both the PS3 and XBO X360.

I thought a "Sequal" was something else (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=Yau&defl=en&q=define:SEQUAL&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title) entirely.

Sweet. I just got this a few weeks ago from someone on Ebay. Only 3 levels in or so, but I'm really enjoying it so far. I need to get back to it though, been neglecting it for other games.

Awesome. I only borrowed a friends copy of the game, but when I did have it, I had a blast with it. The atmosphere was really done well, and the combat was brutal and satisfying. Looking forward to the next one.. The ending of the first game has me wondering what exactly is up with Ethan

Condemned is clearly the greatest hobo beating simulator of all time, I can't wait to see what other blunt objects I can beat them with in the sequel!
Seriously though, I really did enjoy it. It's nice to play a FPS that isn't so dependent on firearms. Makes it a little more personal, ya know?

Condemned was really fun, but a lot of it was the novelty of the new type of enemies (crazy bumbs) and the great settings. . . I wonder if they can keep the environments and the enemies fresh enough to keep the game interesting in a sequel.
I can totally see this being a great renter, but I wonder if it is a game that people will want to buy.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to it too. Just not sure if I'll actually buy it - or if anyone will.

I really dug the first condemned. It had what so few games do, which is atmosphere. Doing the crime solving bits were pretty awesome too, I'm glad they're going to flesh out the combat though, which is the only spot I'd point to for real improvement.

Wonderful. Really felt I got my money's worth with Condemend. The fact it scared the hell out of me is testimament to its unique atmosphere and high tension. "its just a game...its just a game"...I kept telling myself.

Thanks for the fix, ya spelling nazi. ;)
Like everyone else that's posted I, too, loved Condemned. Glad to see a good game that didn't get as much publicity as other 360 launch tittles (PDZ , Cameo) get a sequel.

Hopefully "grappling system" is just fancy talk for "Ethan gets to choke a bitch". And of course, the return of the taser! There's nothing better than electrocuting someone and then beating their convulsing body with a mannaquin arm.

So is it actually Monolith developing this or what? This was my first question as well. The article claims so:
Once again, Monolith will be responsible for developing the title, ensuring that the same level of creepiness will make it into the sequel.

I can't remember why I didn't finish the original. There was something I didn't care for. Controls? No... I can't remember! Time has healed all wounds. Time to dig it out and give it another shot, I think.

Finally! I have been waiting for this news since I beat the first Condemned. It was the two games at launch that made me glad I picked up a 360.
And no the second game was not Perfect Dark Zero. It was Call of Duty 2.
