According to Yahoo (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=598&e=2&u=/nm/20050621/film_nm/gellar_dc), Sarah Michelle Gellar of Buffy fame will star in the movie version of American McGee's Alice.
I can't seem to find any info on IMDB about this...I wonder when it's planned to come out?

Yep a 30 something female playing Dorthy....... Mickey Rooney will no doubt play all The Munchkins, and I hear they are going to resurrect Buddy Ebson to reprise his role as the Tin man.
American Mcgee in the mean time will be in his trailer in the fetal position with a Bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand and god knows what else in the other singing somewhere over the rainbow.

Ain't It Cool News has an article (http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=20525) on it too.
I have a funny feeling that it won't exactly big a big budget quality film. Gellar seems to be typecast in horror films these days. Personally I thought she was best in Cruel Intentions (though the original of that film was better).

I really loved Alice.
The original story of alice in wonderland was twisted enough, but McGee took it and ran with it -- it could make a rather entertaining movie.
I'm far more worried about who the director and the rest of the cast is/will be.

Why did I think of Oz.... Wasn't American Mcgee suppose to complete his Symphony of Prepubescent Girl worship with Oz?
I still stand by the whole American Mcgee in the trailer thing.... Only change the song to I'm Late, I'm Late.

She's lovely and can do whatever she likes. I'll go see it. Also, she's 28 and did I mention lovely?

We need more Alyson Hannigan and less SMG. Sarah is nice but Aly is a different plane of beauty.

Tim Burton to direct plz.
Her age makes sense, remember in the game she had returned after a long hiatus from Wonderland, and everything has changed for the worse? She was supposed to be much older, although in the game she was only maybe in her late teens.

You know, I -loved- Buffy as a series. Probably my favorite television program of all time. With that in mind, SMG was the worst part of the show... <.< We need more Aly! But not for Alice. Alice is a movie that shouldn't be made.
I'm getting sick of hearing about how American McGee is working on all these projects that never show up.

Woah... I actually think it might be good if Tim Burton were to direct... and I think SMG would do a good job, but then I'm a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and Angel), so I may be biased toward actors from shows I like.

Oh man... That would be awesome. Tim Burton is perfect for this kind of thing.

I don't think I really understand Sarah Michelle Gellar. She sounds great in interviews - intelligent and thoughtful. I think my concern is that as an actress, her range is pretty small. Even in Cruel Intentions I kept thinking that she was the Evil Buffy, sent to destroy mankind.

Tim Burton? Oh yes. Oh, please, yes.

The interview says it's the director is the guy that did the Texas Chainsaw remake...then it goes on to say that Wes Craven was signed to direct. Which is it?

Hopefully the cast the rest of her Scooby Doo costars in different parts. That is like my favorite movie of all time.

I think I speak for everyone on EA when I say... Zoinks, yo.

Wes Craven was originally signed, but now it's Texas Chainsaw's director. With Wes's more recent work in mind, this is a good thing.
I also heard (via Aintitcool) that Natalie Portman would have played Alice under Wes Craven's direction. Now THAT would have been something... she almost looks just like American McGee's version, and could really pull off that wounded innocence thing.

SMG is way too old for this.
Besides kids are INFINITELY creepier than adults.
Village of the Damned is one of the scariest films of all time! Those little twins from The Shining? eep!
Not to mention that creepy, dead-looking kid from The Ring.

Christina Ricci as Alice.
Iggy Pop as the Cheshire Cat.
Rosie O'Donnel as the Queen of Hearts, b/c I can't think of anyone else obnoxious enough, atm.
And if not to direct, at least Tim Burton to produce.
Just my personal wants...
Not that I think SMG wouldn't do a good job. It's just that Christina's got those doe-eyes that so fit the character design from the game, and I think she fills the tortured youth mold much better.

Yeah Christina Ricci was smokin in Sleepy Hollow, and SMG just dosen't have that twisted Goth look that is needed for Alice.

Yeah but SMG is so hot. Big Buffy Fan here. I'm definitely for her being cast. I love me that cute blonde type.

I've said it before (in this very thread, no less), and I will say it again and until I die:
Redhead > blonde
