Batman Begins deserve the top spot. Anyone saying otherwise should be tied to a pole and shot by a firing squad.

Best Batman flick IMO, the others simply don't exist to me anymore. :)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith worth a damn, anyone?

Yes, Mr. & Mrs. Smith is fun, in a Hollywood blockbuster way - just make sure you check your 'common sense' head at the door.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith ending was a bit of a letdown. I was hoping a bit more "Michael Bay action" at the end. Still its a good fun film.

Very fun and enjoyable, except for the typical assholes who talk and answer their cell phones, and ruin movies for everyone. Hopefully your mileage will vary :-) But the movie itself was very good, lots of humor, good action, good star chemistry.

The ONE good thing about moviegoing in a small town. Any asshole tries that here, we'll know who it is. :p

Definitely an enjoyable little movie romp. Though you won't be missing anything waiting for the home release.
After staring at them for those 2 hours though, you really start noticing how just plain weird they both appear. Brad's jaw just kept getting bigger and bigger, until I kept thinking "he's putting Clooney to shame" and I remember once sequence where the only thought I had was "Oh my god, her lips are half of her face!". Still, good movie.
GREAT FLICK (Batman)!
ALMOST annihilates the original, almost. I just wish people would understand that in a post-Matrix world, people want to SEE the fights, not have that close-up/blurry/flashy BS like they had in Daredevil, Mummy Returns, etc. I want to see hits connect, miss and clear blocks. Also, Katie Holmes is pretty dry, only held up because she's playing against a great actor (Christian Bale). Other than that, great flick!

ditto what EGO said, although I think it definitely annihilates the original. My biggest complaint was with the close-up blurry can't-tell-what-the-hell-is-going-on fight sequences. Maybe they could re-release a "Special Edition" where they add CGI fight scenes (and Jaba the Hutt). ;)

The best part of Batman was its appeal to people that know nothing about him. I went with my family for Father's Day and everyone enjoyed it. It really helped explain why Bruce Wayne become Batman.
Batman Begins was one of the best movies in ages. I hope it makes enough at the box office to greenlight the two sequels.

Zeal: I'm willing to bet it will. It's been getting pretty rave reviews for the most part, people are loving it, and all the stars plus the writer and director have been giving interviews where they openly talk about how hopeful they are for the next two.

Definitely three cheers for Batman Begins. While I do love Tom Burton's movie, this one was better, simply for the overall believabilty. Burton offered a more fantastical imagining, which Joel Schumaker later pushed to it's most absurd limit and beyond (why do they let him direct? WHY?)
But this one made see why Bruce Wayne became Batman in the first place.
I also agree that Katie Holmes was a bit of a detriment acting wise. But she is damn hot. (Her boobs: you know the holocaust. They are like the opposite of that.)

BB was a great movie. It was only a good superhero movie, though. I think, while remaining spoiler-free, one of my biggest gripes were that there were no solid bad guys in the movie. All the foes he fought were... meh. For a character that's supposed to be super-f'ing-scary, the effects for scaryman were pretty tame. I wasn't afraid at all ever, and that's really a shame.
Another big gripe was the suit/combat stuff. In many scenes Bale had a double-chin from the cowl. It made him look like Fatman instead of Batman. His fight scenes were far too close-up and choppy - you don't get to see ANYTHING while he's in the suit. This would be fine, except that you DO get to see him fight a LOT before he gets the suit and it looks great!
Falcone? Tom Wilkinson? No.
Lastly, Bruce Wayne didn't just get his body in shape, he got his MIND in shape as well. The scene where he says "am I supposed to know what that means?" when Lucius tells him about the chemistry stuff... YES, yes Bruce, you are! It was annoying to see his brains get short shrift when his physical training got half the movie.
Aside from all that - it was great. FAN TAS TIC. They played Batman Forever on cable last night and seeing that made me incredulous. It's not even night and day, it's a totally different dimension. Thank god and bring on the sequels!!!

GrinR, I think we'll get a better treatment for the villains in the next two with Joker and Two-Face coming on. Classic stuff, and I can't wait to see how this writer handles them.

Could not disagree more. I thought they did an excellent job, considering that they had to keep the intensity down to a PG-13 level. There were kids in the theater that were *litarly screaming* when
*SPOLIER?*
DarkScaryBatman was putting the fear in of god(Batman) into Scarecrow.
*END SPOLIER*
The intensity of some of the scenes in this film really caught me off guard. I wish I would have seen this at an Imax first. I will be going again this week.

Ever think he was faking rather than blatantly saying that he isn't just a handsome playboy?

Batman Begins was supposed to be about the creation of batman more so than him fighting evil. The next movies, if made, will most likely be more about ridding gotham of the crazies (with some more development of batman, surely).
If you haven't seen it already... go see it, damnit!
/* --spoiler--
Batman Begins only setup the scarecrow character as far as my understanding goes -- he was created in this movie, not taken care of.
The only time you actually see Scarecrow as the Scarecrow is near the end when hes on the pony. After he has turned batshit insane from his own juice and then given the mask and told to go have fun -- that was when the 'scarecrow' became the Scarecrow (he actually refers to himself as the Scarecrow then). The main bad-guy of this movie was Ra's Al Ghul -- the creation of Scarecrow was a side effect (and the release of all the crazies, like the Joker and who knows who else)..

Hey, it's a kids movie from the maker of the successful Spy Kids franchise. Of course there will be parents that will take their kids, never mind how bad it sounds.

Yeah, Batman Begins was amazing. It's all been said above. I saw it on Wednesday night. Holy shit, great sequel setup, etc....
But I saw the world premiere of Land of the Dead this weekend, and that was just a whole other kind of awesome. Great, great movie. Go see it next weekend. It was faster than previous Deads, but very relevant for right now. The production quality was amazing - I wasn't expecting it to date the previous Dead movies so much, but they really did an amazing job with the effects and the gore. If anything the movie was too short, but I'm sure that will be rectified somewhat by the DVD.

Why would he fake it to Lucius Fox or Alfred, both of whom KNOW who he is?

Crash deserves more money. So does Cinderella Man and even The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
Madagascar and The Longest Yard deserve less.

The wife took the six year old to see it. The kid loved it and raved about it for a week, the wife began drinking heavily as soon as the movie was over.

At the point mentioned, I don't think Fox did know who he is yet, although I may be remembering incorrectly.
And yeah, it is pretty blatantly hinted at that Scarecrow isn't gone yet. I'd be disappointed if he isn't back in the sequel.

I agree with you, it was more of a setup/creation for him than him being a major villain. At least, that's how I saw it.

Oh, yeah. The Dawn remake was awesome, especially in light of most modern zombie movies. And if you need your zombies running, you might not like LotD - but I would say Land is better. It just has this raw feeling to it that any slick, hollywood zombie flick hasn't had. Romero also pumped up the action in this installment considerably. It's a very accessible movie for today's audience, while keeping most of what was great about the others. And that's for the better, IMO. Dawn and Day suffered a little in the slow parts, this has none of that.

What was great about Dawn of the Dead (remake) was that it was pretty damn realistic. It didn't feel like there were guys with rubber on their faces shambling around, it felt like the world was coming to an end and there were bloodthirsty rioters everywhere. That's something I can relate to.
Man, the truck pulling into the mall loading dock - that scene was fucking gold.

it was a fun movie, but just once I'd like to watch a zombie flick that's not filled with stock characters and horror movie cliches. I thought 28 days letter did a much better job with the characters, although the effects weren't as good.
