On DVD we have the Japanese version of Dark Water, and a collector's version of American Psycho with Christian Bale. What is included in the new edition that wasn't in the first release?

What is included in the new edition that wasn't in the first release?

Apparantly it's got the all famous "deleted" scenes and it's the uncut "unrated" version or something like that. There's also 2 new commentaries. I don't have the original so I figured this is good to pick up...the book is also an excellent read for those that haven't read it.

The DVD I have is the unrated version, but I don't think it has any deleted scenes. I'll have to head to Fry's this week to see about picking it up. I have the book, it is a classic.

Not that these are necessarily good DVDs but I think these come out this week too:

Cursed (www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1142569-cursed/)
Hostage (www.rottentomatoes.com/m/hostage/)
The Jacket (www.rottentomatoes.com/m/jacket/)

Granted I've been away for a bit so maybe bapenguin just doesn't post the crap movies heh.

Oh god. I really hope Destroy All Humans is as good as it looked several months ago when I saw it previewed.

I also might pick up Bard's Tale if it's cheap. I have a demo and it's fun in a cheap, hack-n-slash sort of way.

Ja, I was thinking of grabbing that one too, but I haven't seen any reviews of it yet...anyone pick it up yet?

Having played DAH yesterday, I can say it is very fun. The Anal Probe gun should be in all games from now on. I figure it will get a 80-85% average rating.

One things that has me psyched about DAH is that it's one of the few games my girlfriend is interested in playing. And just from reading a preview no less!

Not if IGN has anything to do with it. :p

Yeah, DAH looks cool. Unless concensus is that it BLOWS, I'll be picking this one up.

Also, LAND OF THE DEAD!!! Woohoo!!!!

What kind of game is the bards tale?

Bard's Tale is an action-RPG hack-n-slash like the Diablo games or the console Baldur's Gate titles. Lots of fun, lots of loot, little depth. Bard's Tale is a little different, though, in that it focuses on humor in the storyline, lambasting all the normal RPG cliches and such.

I can't wait to get my hands on Destroy All Humans, but I'll have to for a bit... maybe 3-4 weeks. I've been waiting on that game for a friggin year too, dammit -.-

I'm gonna be waiting on it as well, Perigon. Taking a vacation in Las Vegas, and I'm gonna need all my money for that.

I played the Bards Tale demo too and had a good time with it. As far as comedy goes, it doesn't get much better than that in a game, although i may be biased since I am a huge Cary Elwes fan. The combat was fun enough to keep me interested.

I thought Coach Carter already came out on DVDs.

Anyway, good movie.

What about the differences between this PC version of Bard's Tale and the Xbox version? Did they make any changes? Improvements? Bug Fixes?

It came out in 1986. It was called Hoosiers (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091217/).

If there is a better movie with Basketball as a major theme, I don't know what it could be.

Anyone played psychonauts yet? I thought it looked interesting from the preview I saw. I know it's been out for the PC for a bit now. For anyone that has played it, does it strike you as a game to be played on the PC or console, seeing as how it can be had on both.

Psychonauts was a goddamn great platformer.
It absolutely should be played on a console -- well, with a controller at any rate.

He Got Game is a great movie.

Yeah, I have Psychonauts for PC but I almost wish I'd waited till PS2 release. I use a controller, but I think the PS2 one would feel nicer. Highly recommended though. As far as gameplay, it's pretty flat, nothing ground-breaking, but it's got great writing. If you want a humorous storyline full of good voice acting/dialogue, pick it up.

Dark Water is one of the best modern horror movies I have ever seen. The characters are powerful and you care for them, the tension the mother is feeling while going through a bitter divorce and custody battle for her daughter, just heightens the tension in this movie. Add a relentless ghost and you have a hell of a ride. Believe me, you will never look at little girls in rain slickers the same after this. Hopefully the American version can keep the entensity and the characters in tact.

Rent or pick this movie up, you won't regret it. It's the Ring but this goes to 22!

Obviously you've never heard of a little piece of cinematic history I like to call, Space Jam.

I'm pretty sure the Japanese version of Dark Water has been out on dvd for ages now. Maybe you mean the american one with Jennifer Connolly?

Psychonauts is great if you like platformers and have a sense of humour.

Bard's Tale I thought was very mediocre, nothing special gameplay wise, not even enough to force me through it for the story.

Good news: Destroy All Humans is getting pretty good first reviews. High 80s, low 90s stuff is mostly what I've been hearing. Not perfect, but really fun and an original concept. I think I shall be picking it up.
