Apparently, IGN's Wii Channel (http://wii.ign.com/mail/index.html) was asked about a Wii version of Time Crisis 4, and gave this as their answer:
Sorry, but it doesn't look likely. Time Crisis 4 will be coming exclusively to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 complete with a pretty sweet wireless gun, so say little, dirty birds. However, no Wii version is currently planned.

Thanks to Arcade Renaissance (http://arcaderenaissance.blogspot.com/2007/05/time-crisis-4-multiconsole.html) for the tip.
I still think a Wii version would make the most sense, but hey, if it does go to the X360, I won't complain. ^_^

A wireless version for 360? Really?
I thought Microsoft was keeping it's wireless signal all to itself.

USB dongles should fix that problem. I'll probably pick this up, although I'd rather see a new House of the Dead.

I've heard rumors that Red Octane is in final discussions with Microsoft for a Wireless Guitar Hero 3 controller for the X360, so this wouldn't surprise me for TC4. Can't remember where I heard the rumors, but it was from the internets.

Agreed. Time Crisis is very cool, however a new House of the Dead would really make my day. I still have House of the Dead 2 on my Dreamcast but I can't find any lightguns for it anymore :(

House of the Dead 4 kind of sucks though...Especially this censored version I played at my university arcade where there was no dismemberment and blood.

If there were a Point Blank next gen/mega collection type package being released with a gun as well - I would sooo buy both games (and be in dual gun 2p Point Blank heaven)...

I wonder if we'll see XBLA lightgun games.

What sort of light gun are they going to develop? I've never used one that worked on an HDTV.

That's a good point. Lightguns work by displaying a white boxes on all shootable objects. No one object has a white box at any one time (they flash superfast). LCD monitors aren't fast enough to do this nor are plasmas.

I love all light gun shooters except for the RE ones. I been waiting on on a light gun game for a while. Hopefully this will push for House of the dead ire one made by ps2.

Sony released an adaptor, i believe first party, that would allow the PS2 guncons to work through a component connection. Not sure if the same method could be applied for HDMI and/or Modern HD TV's.

I totally forgot about Point Blank! My brother and I used to play that on vacation all the time. A new installment or remake pack like you are saying would be really cool :D

This is where the LCD TopGun (http://gear.ign.com/articles/689/689009p1.html) or something similar comes into play.

I don't think the white box functionality is how lightguns work these days...certainly true of the NES days, but for more sophisticated fair it is different.
Still...this is my one curiousity...in this era of HDTVs I thought our only hope for lightgun games (one of my favorite genres) was the wii...I would find it hilarious if the wii was totally ineffective for Time Crisis or House of the Dead style games, but that our HD consoles could pull it off. It was one of the main reasons I wanted a Wii...but if the wii were really so capable of doing lightgun games justice there is no doubt we'd have some quality gun games for the system by now.

Doesn't that effectively use the same setup as the wii with sensor bars? How the hell do these guns work on Time Crisis 3 in the arcade with the huge rear projected screens?

Hrm, there's the lightgun for the ps2 and original xbox that works on HDTVs. Though it may just be for the "crt" (rear projection) ones.

I was intrigued by this, but read some pretty damning reviews. If you grew up playing Point Blank at the arcades (even better if on your way home from the pub) - you just have to be standing and aiming - keeping that arm straight as targets start popping up everywhere...
Maybe we'll see a PSN (more likely than) or XBLA (250megs? hmmm - maybe not)
downloadable retroHD/emulated versions when TC4 hits?
But just crank it up to HD, whack all the original levels and more in - and put it on a dvd/bd - and give me an excuse to buy another game/gun pack..really soon after you give me my first excuse to buy one with TC4.
(And RedOctane - hurry up and bring out some GH 80's to give me an excuse to buy another 360 guitar)..

This won't work on my projector. Boo.
Make it for the Wii and I'll buy.

The article you link to mentions how modern arcades deal with that issue. They use multiple IR emmiters. The Wii works the same way except it only has the one sensor placed on top of your television. Large arcade screens have emmiters on both sides of the screen and some may use ones on top and bottom too.

Its possible that since lightguns need to work on IR sensor to accommodate LCD and Plasma screens, that Microsoft won't have to divulge their wireless schematics. Basically since you need to place IR blasters around your television and power them, it makes sense to plug them in via USB. I imagine a wireless receiver would be somehow built into those IR bars and all controller data simply relayed to the 360 thru USB. I hope that made sense.

I would love some light gun action on my 360.
The more light gun games the better.

If Red Octane liked money they'd release the wireless guitar before GH3. I want a 2nd guitar, but I'm not getting stuck with another wired one. I'd happily buy a wireless one the day it's available.
