CellFactor: Revolution redefines physical interaction, combining multiplayer gameplay with massive environmental destruction where you can manipulate thousands of objects simultaneously, control vehicles and fight against AI-controlled opponents or challenge friends to a match in the networked gameplay modes. WorthPlaying (http://www.WorthPlaying.com) recently had a chance to check out a build, here is a snip :

Players choose from three characters: Bishop, Black Ops and Guardian. The Black Ops kit is the standard soldier and can use both psionic powers and conventional weapons. The Guardian lacks psionic abilities but can wield two weapons at the same time, even holding a different type of gun in each hand. The Bishop will likely be the class of choice for those equipped with PhysX cards because she uses psionic powers exclusively. She can't drive a vehicle but can lift it up with her mind and hurl it at the enemy. She can fly, too.Check out the full CellFactor: Revolution preview (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=42542) over at WorthPlaying.

Thanks to the Ageia's PhysX people for providing extra hardware.

I remember seeing a tech demo for this like...a year ago. Looked really nice with what they were doing, but also something that could get pretty boring after awhile. I wonder what's changed in a year - if anything.

Well read the preview and find out!

Answer: not much.

Kind of a cool idea, but probably not worth building a whole game around.

Too bad the card costs like 200 $, that's just way too much.

I wonder what's the playerlimit going to be. With so many physic objects it can't be very high, otherwise the servers would explode.

Well the game will be a free download, and part of it is still playable even without the card.

It's quite fun playing with stuff though, and the Ghost Recon games also support it, so if you are an FPS fan (and like eye candy), it's not a bad investment.

With just the name, CellFactor: Revolution, it sounds like a game in which you use Wii remotes on the PS3.

I think the PhysX card is cool yet expensive. And I would even consider buying one if any games supported it. As it stands right now, no dice.

Since the article doesn't declare the contrary, I assume multiplayer is still LAN only? /yawn

Large particle physics simulation sounds great, until you have to either 1) trust clients or 2) send huge amounts of data through limited bandwidth.

I can't remember where but a while back I read this was coming to 360/PS3. Anyone else hear this?
