So here we are, it's the end of another week, which can only mean one thing - it's time for Evil Avatar's Fireside Roundup. For those of you unfamiliar with Fireside Roundup, this is our way of catching you up with some of the more notable news stories from the previous week, and it also serves to highlight those stories which perhaps didn't get the attention they merited. Anyway, without further ado...
First up there was the non-news of four major Xbox 360 titles being delayed (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28844). I say non-news because it transpires that... Hell, read the thread and the editor's notes for details.
Moving right along, news also hit the tubes that two previously Xbox 360 exclusives would now be appearing on the PlayStation 3 (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28895). This news was greeted with much fan(boy)fare and not a lot else. Sticking with the PS3, it's computational prowess was shown to be all that and a bag of chips with the news that Folding@Home's power has been more than doubled thanks to Sony's super-computer (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28960).
This week was also a week for celebration, reminiscing, and taking stock. Sinclair's seminal ZX Spectrum turned 25 years-old (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28942)! Our very own bapenguin supplied us all with a timely review of his first 30 days with Sony's PS3 (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28977).
What else...? Oh, yet another teat was added to Ubisoft's Tom Clancy bovine superstar license with the announcement of Tom Clancy's End War (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28908).
A special shout out goes to the awesome EvAv community for their continued donations, as explained here (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29019). Yeah, you guys rock.
Here's some other items of note...
Sony announced the PlayStation Eye (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29031) (although it looks nothing like an eye).
Pokemon continues to take the piss out of common sense. (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29042)
UK retailer GAME supplies this weeks 'WTF' moment. (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29114)
Nintendo finally realizes that an increase in Wii production may be beneficial. (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29049)And there are some games coming - for both the DS and the Wii! (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29111)
That just about wraps things up. All in all, not a bad week for gaming news. Nothing earth-shattering happened at all, but then there's only so many "earth-shattering" announcements that can be made before people start to lose interest.
You'll perhaps notice that not a lot happened with Sony this week. Yeah, it was one of those mercifully quiet weeks for Sony. Nothing big happened at all. (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29054)
