While there has not yet been any official announcement on the game itself, both Activision and Infinity Ward have confirmed Call of Duty 4 is in the works and a press release should be imminent.

Check out the brand new Call of Duty 4 trailer that is supposed to debut on ESPN later today, now already available for download ..

This link is much easier to access. It's the non-HD version.

Looks good though. I've purchased every other CoD for the Xbox. Why not this one.

Well, this look pretty damn good. I don't really get the Rainbow/Splinter series because they're to much like work and not much fun. But this looks like it's more my kind of game. Pretty, simple and dramatic.

Yea, it sends you to a game called Operation Darkness.

I too am among those who prefer something a bit more action oriented than the Tom Clancy titles, so a CoD title with a modern warfare setting is something I'd definitely give a shot.

Well, only CoD3 wasn't on PC, and from what I've heard about it, we didn't miss much.
CoD2 is on PC, however. I can't say I've had the urge to play CoD3 anyway... there's only so many times they can sell the same game. At least CoD4 isn't based in WW2.

The trailer looked cool, even if I'm not into the "modern warfare" setting that many games are using now. I'm more of a sci-fi fan, myself.

I with the industry would stop driving certain settings into the ground. As soon as one makes a WW2 game, they all do. Then it was Vietnam. Now we've moved on to modern warfare.

That said, the game does look good. Just ranting a bit. I have to get it out of my system.

Hmmmm, what would happen, if you got the feel of call of duty. And painted counter-strike on top of it.

A game better than.. counter-strike itself? :O

Quite possibly! Be wary of the ninja weapon whip from behind!

ZZZZZ. Sure, it looks nice. Personally, I'm looking for a more realistic experience than even Ghost Recon (which looks and sort of sounds authentic but it's hardly what I'm looking for) and this obviously isn't going to be it. It'll definitely be worth a rental, though. Sigh.

The only exception of course are the logos, waving flags, etc. All the action is actual in-game action captured from the SP of the game." - fourzerotwo, Infinity Ward : Community Relations Manager

Guys come on how can you like this shit? IW finally understands that WWII-shooters has gone old and fast! What do we get?! Another Middle Eastern Villians setting with more american soldiers as heros etc... I wonder what genious thought that up. Been done and done already. I was hopeing for something else, something more, like a more complex modern setting or a future setting with an alternate history like Tom Clancys Endwar or something. This is just meh... Only thing left for IW to do to kill this serious off is to make it another console game lol... and here I was hoping that finally someone could step up and give DICE/EA a run for their money, I could not have been more wrong about that one :(

So you're telling me you don't like non-fiction settings for wars? I mean, I'm sure some game developer wishes for a war that happened on the green pastures of New Zealand, with cows calmly strolling about as bombers flew across them sending fire and brimstone to a lovely village nearby. But no. It didn't happen. Nor a war between nations where the race to space is also filled with dogfights between the Americans and Russians as they try to stop each other's rockets leave the atmosphere.

Face it, it has been done, but so has love stories, thrillers, macabres, movies set in an apartment where a ghost is haunting and the main character rather than run, decides to bloody find out what was actually causing the ruckus, and dies in the end. But the gameplay, and how it is done, differs, and that's where it matters.

Hell, during the Atari days, there were countless alien invasion based games. And they do keep coming, and if they don't, you might have never gotten Earth Defense Force.

I'm glad to see it's not a WWII game, but I'm still not that jazzed. And I love CoD3 (Ever see the Game Head CoD3 challenge? I was in that bitch.)

I'm worried it's going to be another tatics based war shooted, which seems to be turning into the new WWII in terms of it being overused. Also, it looks like they're going to do more of a story in this one. My one issue with CoD3 were the cutscenes. It was nice to see the difference between the different armies, but I did not care. They need to skip them or find a way to make me care.

How many of you have signed up at charlieoscardelta.com because the end of the COD4 video promised EXTENDED AND UNRATED footage at that website?

The website makes you register with them before you are allowed to get to the EXTENDED AND UNRATED footage.. the thing is tho.. the video on that site is absolutely no different than the video which evilavatar linked to at worthplaying.com and gametrailers.com

ie, everyone who saw that advertisement for the site and went to the effort to sign up has been LIED TO, USED AND EXPLOITED in order to gain more users at their forums.

I've been reading evil avatar for years but have never used the forums. I dont generally sign up to forums. But I went to the trouble this time only to find out I had been sucked in by their marketing and advertising bullshit.

So please, I would like everyone, if they have not already, to sign up at their site and join the thread I have created in "Charlie Oscar Delta" related section titled 'Where is my EXTENDED AND UNRATED VIDEO!!???' and let the admins and the people behind this trickery know that we WILL NOT be exploited like this.

This has really pissed me off. But if evilavatar can get behind this, I think we can make them admit they have wronged me, you, and everyone else who signed up based on this blatant lie.

Cheers

M3LViN

PS ALSO, if someone who can write more influentially than me, wants to start a new thread here to benefit this cause please go ahead. Or if the admins could get behind it also, that would be great.

Take a breath and calm down, dude. So you're a member of a forum that you are under no obligation to check. You might get an e-mail (with an opt-out) that tells you more about this game that you are clearly so passionate about. You can discuss the game with other people just like you who will also want to discuss the game.

There are things that are worth getting excited about, but this is not one of them.

I for one am very happy with this new direction CoD is taking. I dont think a quality modern combat game has been done in the CoD/MoH style (at least not one with a good single player focus) so this will actually be nice and original, plus it may have a story that resonates a bit better than fighting 60 year old germans.

btw, thats a hell of a first post M3LViN. Welcome to EA.

Looks like it includes more of a story than the previous CoD games, also, a nuclear bomb going off and mass devastation; I’m sold. The Migs indicate to me that you’re fighting a government/military too, not just a bunch of terrorists, which I hope is the case. If anyone can make a modern combat game exciting it'll be these guys.

I'm mixed. I loved and still love to death CoD 1, and the expansion. 2 was a fricking consolized abortion of a game, and 3 was fun on the console, but WHAT ABOUT THE PC?

Why couldn't they come up with a new franchise name for this modern stuff, and make a TRUE sequel to CoD1 for the pc.

On topic, the video certainly was interesting, and it looks like its going to be REALLY story based. (and how many guys did that red beret cap in the face? geez)

The end to the trailer with the link to CharlieOscarDelta.com was meant for people viewing the 60 second trailer on TV during the NFL Draft. The trailer on the website is 90 seconds, uncut (read: has stuff that the FCC wouldn't allow during a commercial broadcast), and high def.

I agree, so I'm looking forward to this greatly. I mean, in the sense that it's a dedicated FPS, not some kind of sand-box, online only shooter.

Black is practically the first thing that comes to mind, and while really fun IMO...not as visceral as a CoD game (at least the first one on PC)

He's talking about the shots where the camera zooms into the super detailed eye / face at the beginning and then zooms out of the eye at the end... that stuff is pre-rendered, but not the shot after that at the end where he pulls the mask on.

MC is good. It plays different than BF2/2142 in the sense that since you're using a controller, you could consider it more 'realistic'(slower-paced) and the PC more 'Counterstrike'(point and click). Each one is fun all around, but different enough to play each independently.

This looks very "meh" to me. And while the video is probably ingame, I doubt that is gameplay as it looked very scripted. We should be seeing hud and weapon shots if that were the case. This game also gives me a "Shadow Ops: Red Mercury" vibe, which means that it will be a great popcorn shooter, but an ultimately unfulfilling ride.

I'm not saying I would have prefered WWII, but I'm really wondering when the industry is going to stop making shallow, Tom Clancy-esque "let's go to a foriegn country populated by stereotypically evil terrorists/brown skinned people and blow them up" type games. Seriously.

I'm going to reserve judgement until its release, however. And if it turns out half as good as Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, I'll be set.

I'm actually quite excited. All of the games that have been developed by the same team that made the first Call of Duty have been very enjoyable, and this one will be as good, or better. The third was overly average, and because of it, I just couldn't get all the way through it. It was as though they took the frame work of a great game and built a shitty one inside it. It still comes out alright, but in the hands of a capable dev, it would have been phenomenal. Plus, something about it just didn't feel very Call of Duty.

I think this one will provide the visceral, cinematic war that the 3rd one did not in a way that only the Call of Duty team can bring us.

In regards to relating it to BF, you honestly can't do that. It's an unintelligent comparison, because one of them is entirely multiplayer while the other is designed around an excellent, scripted single player campaign. Sure, Call of Duty has MP, but I've never bought a Call of Duty game eagerly anticipating the online component.

If by visceral and cinematic you mean linear and scripted worth no more than one playthrough at best, I'll agree with you.

This looks like more of the same, only less appropriate. Is it even based on a real war, or it is generic Middle Eastern setting #317? From the looks of the trailer, it looks like they're going to try to have some kind of story/character development, which was also never what CoD was about. And the run-and-gun one man army gameplay somehow fits even less with modern warefare.

Mechanically, I have no doubt that IW will do this game right. The whole series has been about doing the most rehashed, drawn out ideas and concepts...really, really well. Showing that we are not sick of WWII shooters, rather all the shit ones. But what adds to the charm is how it is grounded in the British, French, Russian perspective. That unique look at familiar territory set COD apart.

Yes it's pretty good, not great or anything, but good if ya need a quick war game fix, since it uses a match making system similar to Halo 2. The vehicular combat adds a touch of insanity too, so it's a pretty solid game.. if ya can put up with the floaty aiming controls.

Quips aside, it looks like another formfactor success from IW. They may not be the guys taking huge risks in their games, but they do staple shooter elements very well, and they always come with very solid gameplay and combat. Don't I wish, just rented EDF 2017, that must be the worst FPS I have ever (literally ever) played. The models and animations are cheezy, the AI is ridiculous and the world felt really stale. But like I said, IW really knows how to make a solid shooter. They are not rocking the boat, but they make such a tight and compelling gameplay experience.

Hell no. GRAW trailers are always so slow and lame. This one was all action packed and stuffed. :D
