In this interview (http://www.azcentral.com/business/articles/0614t-spawn-ON.html) with Arizona Central, Todd McFarlane talks about the new direction that is being planned for his Spawn character starting with Issue 150 as well as the possibility of a second Spawn film.
and this summer I'll be writing the screenplay for a movie that I'll be directing that I hope I can get started in December or January.
So a sequel to the movie?
No, I wouldn't use that word. A reinvention. If everything goes good there'll be a movie next year, and the animation is definitely coming next year. And then all of a sudden we've reinvigorated the direction of the comic book, I mean each will happen of their own voice, but all of sudden it's like, "oh cool, Spawn is back to sort of being to the forefront of comic books and comic book pop culture like Spider-Man, Superman and Batman have taken their rightful place there.

Spawn was one of the worst movies ever. Ranks right up there with Batman Returns.

So....Batman Returns is on equal ground as Batman Forever and, oh....I dunno....Batman & Robin? Curious.

I love rubber nipples on batsuits!
I loved the Spawn animated series on HBO. Another Spawn movie doesn't exactly get my excitement up too much, though.

In the interview, McFarlane also says he's planning to do a new animated Spawn feature sometime soon. Before the movie, I think.

Batman Returns was fine, Batman Forever was bareable and had it's moments, Batman Forever sucked ass.
But not quite as much as Spawn. Hell, even a -good- Spawn movie would suck... It's friggin Spawn.

I liked the HBO animation Spawn series enough to buy the DVD set of them, though I've avoided the live action movie like the plague. When I heard the director bitching about how long it took just to get he cape right, I knew the rest of the movie wasn't going to work. Ah well.
Hopefully it'll be better this time around.

Spawn was the number one comic book in the WORLD for like five years. Just so you know.

Heh, right second time.
Spawn anime was great and hopefully this new movie will continue the successes of the aforementioned comic to movie revivals.

And Britney Spears and Nsync sell far more albums than any band that is actually good. Just so you know.
The lesson: people are stupid. Which also happens to be the wizard's first rule. (I'm such a nerd)
Oh and let's not forget that McFarlane's "greatness" is what inspired the creation of Dr. Raven Darktalon Blood. :)

funny, I caught Spawn on Encore last night. My wife sat down and asked what I was watching. I told her and then proceeded with "..after seeing Batman Begins, this Spawn movie is a great blue print for how a comic book movie should never be done!"
What a crap movie.
Almost makes the original Punisher movie look good.

I haven't read Spawn since #10 and I guess from what others have been saying I haven't missed much.
On the plus side of things, I made money off of those first ten issues and enjoyed them more than any crappy Liefeld books that came out of Image or whereever.
/comic geek mode off!

The first 10 issues were the only good issues of Spawn I've ever read.
Man, I hate MacFarlane so goddamned much.
edit : reading the article, he annoys me even more! not to mention that it doesn't seem that anyone actually "proofread it" or "edited it for grammar".
