The first time I subscribed, my first AND last name were listed. It really freaked me out at the time. :D
Also Sandman, I miss the day when there was only ONE pink. I think his name was MunnyGo or something like that, and it was awesome that hardly anyone knew exactly why he was pink. At the time I always assumed it was because he was a game designer or something or maybe just because he looks like Gordon Freeman.

Does anyone else find Spigot's transparent attempts to mask his true intentions amusing? Going pink "for his baby girl", getting the pink Pokemon game "For his baby girl"... it's so obvious, Spigot. You like the color pink. You've always had that curious fascination with it, and wondered what it'd be like to have pink items, or pink associated with you.
How do I know this? Because your baby girl couldn't give a damn about the color pink; her favorite color right now is RED! That's because babies associate most with that color due to their time in the womb.
I applaud Spigot's embracing of the color pink, even if it makes him a girly-man. Wear pink shirts, Spig, and complete your transformation! ;)

If you've done over $100, just PM Fitty or Evil and they'll set you on the path to pinkdom.

At work we call a pink shirt "salmon" and try to pretend that you are still masculine while wearing it. On the other hand, if the woman you are protecting likes the color then it makes your job easier.

I needed the excuse, ok! I'd rather everything was purple, but since it's not, I have to settle for pink. Thankfully I have a little girl now and can finally admit the simmering secret that I have kept hidden, even from myself, so long.

I'm about ready to donate, after all, I've been frequenting(trolling in some eyes)this site for over 5 years. I don't want the color'ed name, I just want to know where the boundaries are set, so I know, and the people in charge know. ;)
I owe my current non-yellow to somebody else, as a matter of fact.

This post of mine is going to piss a lot of people off, but be thinking in the back of your mind as you read (if you read) "he only wants what's best for the site..."
If you're going to donate, just donate! Quietly, and for yourself only. "Promoting" yellows in a mass popularity contest smacks of attention whore and serves to reduce the amount of money collected. Why? Because if you donated your money quietly then dozens of currently orange posters would still be yellow, thus prompting at least some of them to also donate - net effect being increased donations to the site.
Yes, I said you were an attention whore! Me! I said that!

An alternative way of thinking about it is that when people make donations for other people they are promoting the overall community feeling and spirit of the page - and when you have a page where people take up arms Inigo Montoya style for their favorite console system - we can use all the community spirit we can drum up.
A little known secret is that community donations are also double donations - if you donate a cumulative $100.00 you get the Pink name (or whatever colors we make available in the future) in addition to promoting several people from Yellow to Orange.
So, if it helps you can secretly keep telling yourself you are only doing it for you. :p

Pink was kind of a Joke for the first person to ever donate $100.00 in a lump sum... GunnyMo. He is an ex-Marine (you don't ever really stop being a Marine though) and I thought someone big and tough like him needed a softer side.
I think the colors are nice. We don't use avatars because people get crazy with them and the page gets too busy and too hard to read, but a few different colors doesn't really impact your ability to read/browse the forums and it is my way of visually showing people that it means a lot to me when people help me out.
We are having a tough year this year and these donations are really keeping us going. Next year (2008) will be a lot better, but I have needed every penny this year!
(Though I did splurge on the puppy, so it isn't all bad news.)
