It's not all team-killing and trash talking in the games business you know. The Entertainment Software Charity (ESC) raised £11,000 from its first ever golf day held at the London Golf Club last week.

The event was organised by Midway Games and featured 13 four-man teams from companies such as EA, THQ, NCsoft, Atari, Sega and Centresoft. The chaps from Zoo Digital carried the day, smiting the opposition before them, in a worthy cause of course.

Head on over to Boomtown (http://pc.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=8490) for the full story and details of the Entertainment Software Charity.

That's really awesome. I've never heard of the ESC before now, but I plan to keep an ear open for them in the future.

It is great to hear this stuff. Hopefully enough of these charities will pop up that they will get some positive news coverage [not bloody likely]. The last couple years I have supported Child's Play (http://www.penny-arcade.com/childsplaycharity/index.php), which I am sure everyone here knows about as it was created by Penny Arcade. For those of you who do not, check out the pictures if you want to se what a large room stacked floor to ceiling with brand new consoles and toys looks like. Good stuff all around.

Well, at the risk of sounding too cynical, that's an awfully small amount of money, too little to pat any of these publishers on the back for (I mean, they drop that on one page in one issue of PC Gamer).
