Overlord Preview [360]

IGN (http://www.ign.com) brings a preview (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/781/781498p1.html) of the upcoming game Overlord (http://www.codemasters.com/games/?gameid=1999).


But we're getting ahead of ourselves a little bit here. In Overlord, you play as a mysterious character who inherits the evil powers of a long-dead overlord. Unfortunately, the previous overlord's Dark Tower - the source of your evil power - is a crumbling ruin and you've got to rebuild it. Thankfully, you don't need to get your hands dirty yourself; instead you've a horde of wicked-looking Minions at your command, all quite happy to collect items needed to construct a new and more powerful Dark Tower.

If you've played Nintendo's Pikmin games, this should all sound familiar. In fact, the two titles share a surprising number of gameplay similarities. In Pikmin, to overcome certain obstacles or pick up parts to repair your spaceship, you needed a certain number of Pikmin and the same is true in Overlord too. By gathering a group of Minions together, they can push objects out of the way, open gates by heaving huge levers and knock down things to create bridges.

Been watching everything about this since day one. Loved the last video with menion generators shooting out goblins. Looks like a blast,. But it does look JUST like Fable.

I'm tickled about the possibilities for this game. If it is at least as good as DK, then it's better than Evil Genius, which is good enough for me.

I can't wait for it to come out on pc, because let's be honest, games like this where selection is critical in directing minions precision mouse is best.

I've been waiting for this game for a couple of years now. Triumph is one of my favorite developers, and Overlord is a huge departure from the Age of Wonders games. I'm really hoping this turns out great!

Yeah Sacrifice ruled. What the heck is Shiny up to these days anyway...MDK and Sacrifice were so good...and then I haven't seen anything good from them since.
