I love Wolverine. I was a Wolverine fan before he "hit it big". He's my favorite X-Man, and I'm definitely looking forward to the solo-Wolverine movie.

But dammit, he's not the ONLY X-Man. Why is he hogging the poster? Why does he hog the movies? If they do the Phoenix storyline, I already know it'll be butchered from here to enternity in order to fit it into a 2-3 hour movie format, but are they at LEAST going to preserve Phoenix/Jean Grey and Cyclops as the central characters of that story? I'd bet both nuts right now the answer to that is "No".

I certainly understand Wolverine is a "cooler" character than Cyclops, and while I've COMPLETELY loved and enjoyed the first two films, I'm also a little dismayed that the movies are focusing so strongly on only a thin slice of what makes the entire property great. The same thing happened with the Next Generation Star Trek films... out of that whole ensemble cast we all loved and cherished, each and every movie revolved around Picard and Data, Picard and Data, Picard and Data... everybody else was relegated to window dressing. I really don't want to see that happen to X-Men as well.

That said, I'll of course be in line to see X3 along with the rest of the first-day rubes, regardless. =P

Rumor has it that Jackman is actually going to be starring in a spin-off Wolverine flick so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that, if that's the case, X3 might focus more on the team or at least more on those within the Dark Phoenix Saga, like you mentioned. I'm sure this is just pure fantasy wishing on my end, but it would be nice if the third film lays a good portion of the groundwork for that Saga (two showed us the first hints) and then the fourth is when everything really hits the fan. There's almost no way to make a good interpretation of that story-arch in a 2-3 hour film. It's like them doing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. That's a 780 page plus book attempted in, at max, a three hour window, and even that doesn't make sense to me let alone something as detailed as the Dark Phoenix Saga.

And I agree with your comments on Wolverine stealing the show. He has, but it hasn't hurt the films in any way for me. Personally, I think they could just hand the movie to Magneto and it'd be good to go :)

I'm really interested in seeing how the new characters fit into the world originally set-up by Singer and his crew. I'll admit to being somewhat fearful with Ratner behind the reigns, but I'll reserve all actual talk-back until the film is out. With the right cast (which they already have) and the right crew, it could be just as good as the first two with a different visual approach.

Though you have to admit, their using Wolverine's three blades to represent the three in X3 is kind of a no-brainer though. Which some might argue is the problem lol, but I think it works as a teaser should.

Why is he hogging the poster?

I think for the simple reasons: he has three claws, which works well with X3, and he is most recognizable outside of comicbook fandom. Not quite the household name Spiderman is, but getting there. People who aren't fans of the comics will register the poster really quickly and go 'oh, cool.'

That's probably why.

Doesnt he appear in an average of 7 comic books a month?

Well, Cyclops has come off as a weenie in the films so far for the most part. Wolverine is your most popular male lead in the movies. Maybe that'll change if they can find someone who can actually do Gambit properly.

Seven? You wish it was only seven. He is a leading character in every XMen book out, and is also a member of the New Avengers. He currently stars in just about every Marvel book out there.

The best incarnation of Wolverine is Ennis(?) version of him. When he and Punisher trashes a secret conspiracy of dwarfs, one of those precious moments...

Wolverine is just another fact that canadians are the most popular following most of europe or w/e spelling.

It will probably never happen, but I would love to see them take on a sentinel. The technologies there to make it look awesome, still we probably will never see it.

When Jackman is old and gray maybe they'll try the "days of the future past" storyline on the big screen.

Of course there would need to be about 2 days worth of backstory footage explaining what's going on - but it would be cool.

X-Men3 is going to RULE!

That is unless somebody chews on a tumor and makes it like Daredevil or Hulk!

Kelsey Grammer as the Beast. I blinked my eyes a few times when I read that, but he's absolutely perfect for the role. Say what you will about comics being made into movies, the people behind the X-Men movies absolutely get what the characters are all about.
