From the folks at GamePolitics (http://gamepolitics.com/2007/04/19/gamer-group-plans-nyc-protest-rally/), comes word of a pro-gamer rally being planned for New York's Bryant park. The event planners have set up a MySpace page (http://events.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=events.detail&eventID=326388.19752&Mytoken=75C2E8B6-A648-470B-A22B7FF70BABBEAE63215708) to coordinate the event.
Empire Arcadia Inc. will gather as many gamers as they can in New York City at Bryan Park on Saturday May 5th, 2007 at 1pm. There we will protest, morn and show how real gamers play videogames peacefully and responsibly. This demonstration is to show that gamers will not take the blame of this tragic matter but we will do what we can to help put an end to terrible events like this. We reiterate and urge that all leaders of gaming communities, organizations down to the last gamer to set aside 10 hours of this day to pay respect and come together not just as gamers but as HUMAN BEINGS for peace. Bring you Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and Playstation Portables. Bring your favorite games to link up and play with your friends. Tetris, Tekken DR, Mario Kart and more. Gamers should organize and make their voiced heard in the halls of power. While I'm not completely sold on how much this rally can or will accomplish, the obvious and frequent errors in the annoucement don't bode well for this effort

But I don't have a portable.
I got a PSP. Maybe I'll go. Depending if it's going to be worth it.

Gamers have to be the laziest bunch of people. Even when they protest they want to sit around and play video games.

I reiterate that poster to proofread his posts before submitting them. We gamers aren't violent, we just bad at grammar and spelling.

Is it really a good idea to get a bunch of bloodthirsty psychos all crowded into one area with each other?

There will be at least one idiot who makes trouble and ruins it for everyone, and sadly that will be what makes the news.

There will be ZERO chicks in this event. And the present entities that do have pussies will be dreadful to look at.

I'll show my solidarity by waking up, hung over, and do anything else.

I'm going to try to go as an exercise in journalism, but I don't expect much of a crowd.

I'm going to try to go as an exercise in journalism, but I don't expect much of a crowd.
And that will be about the only exercise seen anywhere near this event.

Yikes!
Don't know what else to add besides that.
Those poor, persecuted gamers.

I'm afraid that I agree with Frank Caron's take over at ars technica (http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/04/19/gamers-to-rally-in-new-york-but-may-be-missing-the-point), the gist of which is that this will come across as trying to shift blame rather than accomplish anything positive.

I'll say it now: Million Nerd March.
Yeah, I know it'll be nowhere near that many people. Good point on the chicks, too.

Hello to all! I am new to this forum and I was directed here because of the thread regarding our event in NYC on the 5th of May.
Just a few points...
We have already had a great response from the media and sponsors. A detailed list will be released in a few days. The goal is to bring together the community and the industry. There will be gaming, contests and panel discussions. JC Media is a gaming provider who produces, hosts, promotes and facilitates tournaments so we are working on the logistics to bring out consoles and televisions. MTV and CNET have already expressed interests in the press coverage. The ECA will be out there and some of the most respected gamers in the country. We will be on Gamers United Radio next week. [Listen Here (http://community.loudcity.com/stations/gamersunitedradio/tune_in)]
News will be updated on our site and forums (http://jc-media.com/phpBB2/index.php) as new information becomes available. [Official JC Media Site (http://www.jc-media.com)]
I can be reached via email [chastity@jc-media.com] or on AIM: JC NuyoRiquena if you have any questions. I hope to see you out there.

This is just gonna irritate The Gay and Lesbian groups. When Lanning, "Fag" is the most commonly thrown around word.
