That's weird. The page says the update is from August 2006, but the file details says its from yesterday and the file name pretty much says April 2007...

Edit: I just downloaded it and the .xex file has a last modified date of April 17th.

Well that makes 29 out of 46 titles backwards compatible(albeit not necessarily fully playable) for me.

I find it odd that Guilty Gear Isuka is backwards compatible, yet X2 #Reload isn't.

Edit: I just realized that Isuka never even saw a North American release. Now that's just goofy.

What i need to shut the hell up bitching about backwards compatibility:

Driver: Parallel Lines - Just started playing this recently, and i'm having a blast with it. Well made gem of a game.

Driv3r - Guilty pleasure. I still enjoy this one when the rest of the world passed it by, probably rightfully so - the control sucks - but i still have fun with it.

Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30/Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood - Quite frankly i'm amazed that these aren't included. They were big deals when released, some of the final blockbusters for the ole Box. I think the momentum was killed a little by the arrival of the 360, but they deserve the upscaled 360 look.

Chronicles of Riddick - This one still consistently pops up when i get into conversations with people about "Good xbox games". Also one of the most critically acclaimed games on the system, and a graphical showcase that still looks damn good. Some argue it's prettier than Perfect Dark Zero (not that i agree with that sentiment).

Doom 3: Ressurection of Evil - Because i love my Doom 3.

Advent Rising - If only because it would be the only 360 game i own that wouldn't be backwards compatible if the others listed above were ;) And, like Driv3r, it's a deeply flawed game that still held my interest to the end, and does some stuff very right despite technical issues.

Just a note for everyone: supposedly JSRF only works for the standalone disc, people can't seem to get it to work if it's the Sega GT/JSRF combo disc (which is what i have unfortunately)

You know, I used to be a big complainer about the lack of BC, but it really doesn't matter to me anymore. The only Xbox game I have is Lego SW, and the only one I'm *really* keen on getting is Apex. I used to have Jade Empire, but that's on my PC now.

The funny thing is is that if you have the dual disc version, only GT 2002 works. Separately, they both work.

Woohoo! With this update the PAL version of Soul Calibur 2 works as well. It looks incredible on the 360! Especially since on the old Xbox us PAL gamers never were allowed to see the 480p and 720p modes that Soul Calibur2 already had.

Also, Panzer Dragoon Orta and Unreal Championship were already great looking games, but now they both almost look next-gen! And both are widescreen.

Xerxes - Sometimes what happens is they work on a game like Psychonauts and by creating emulation for techniques used in that game, they suddenly also are able to make games that AREN'T that awesome backwards compatible. Barbie's Horse Adventures was probably NEVER on anyone's MUST MAKE BC list. It just worked and it is probably the same for many of the titles in this list.

All Splinter Cell titles are backwards compatible. They were probably listed under Tom Clancy's blah blah blah.

Quite, quite so. I just got back from the shop, with PD0 and JSRF in my bag (as well as Puzzle Quest, finally...Christ, that game is rarer than hen's teeth). Sega should lock Mobius in a room with a Wacom pad and an unlimited supply of cocaine and tell him to go nuts.

Hell, I wouldn't mind a Panzer Dragoon Saga update, either. That game still has one of the neatest, most unique battle systems I've ever seen in an RPG. And the ending was a clear setup for a sequel...

This list is FANTASTIC. 4 of my favourite games are on this list and I never expected them to ever be BC. However talking to a friend, he's very upset about other games missing, like Otogi.

DudE! Try downloading the ISO from the Xbox site. I read somewhere about there possibly being a problem with the standalone JSRF, whereas the bundled version with SEGA GT works fine.

I can load up the bundle disc fine. Sega GT works. I played it for like ten seconds. JSRF...it gets to the "Xbox", when all of a sudden, a blade appears saying that its not compatible with the emulation software on the 360. If you go to hdtvarcade.com and check the hd database it says which games were originally 16x9 and which ones weren't.

Republic commando would not play in widescreen in 480p on the original Xbox (480i only), but it plays like butter on the 360 in 720p with some minor glitches on the displays of objects you can task your teammates to interact with.

UC2 of course plays in widescreen. Smooth.

Breakdown is working fine for me. I'm about half way through the game. I forgot what a sweet game it is...I also forgot that it was hard as hell. Maybe after I throw my controller a few more times I might start having problems too. I would have to back up the claim as most underrated game ever.

EDIT: The only glitch I've noticed is that light blooms bleed through the walls...of course it does help see certain bad guys around corners and in other rooms.

No on both. I'm on NTSC and my son and I have been playing it as much as we can since the update came out from the beginning. I just bought Return to Wolfenstein again so we may be taking a break. Sounds like a possible PAL issue.
