Pro-G has some hands on impressions and a 2 minute gameplay movie of New Super Mario Bros. (http://www.pro-g.co.uk/previews/pid/750/78/) on the Nintendo DS.

While the basic power-ups seem to be present, such as the mushroom and the Fire Flower, some new ones have been included. The pump-up mushroom allows you to repeatedly hit the block that the mushroom is sitting on, in turn increasing the size of the mushroom. If you grab this mushroom when it is full size, Mario will become a giant and become temporarily invulnerable to enemy attack. He also gains the punches and kicks from Super Mario 64.Let’s hope that they can make another classic Mario game.

Funny that people are just getting hyped about this game now. I've been waiting for it since last year's E3.

This definitley looks cool, but I'd have to buy a DS to play it...and THAT isn't going to happen ;)

Wow wow! Video is rockin!

I love the smooth animation and the 'bendy' platforms that deform when you hit them from beneath. Reminds me of the 2-player Mario Bros in the arcade!

Yeah, I just can't see myself throwing down $150 for a new handheld anytime soon...

This game and that new Kirby one are both making me want a DS pretty heavily. And now that it comes with Mario 64...

This is one of those games I bought the DS for... but unfortunetly, my money is spoken for until at least Winter.

I hate this. How is it in less than a day I go from not really wanting to own a DS to, after reading 3 or 4 articles recently posted, fighting every urge to run out Best Buy and grab one off the shelf? Stupid O.C.D.

EXACT same feeling. I'm at least putting it off till I'm back from my Vegas trip after the 4th of July though.

Well, should you decide to do so, I just read that retailers are giving away Super Mario 64 with every new DS purchase.

Kamalot, I mentioned the Mario 64 giveway earlier in the thread. That's the thing that really sold me on the idea of buying a DS right now. The games nudged me to the edge, but that pushed me over.
