I like that there is now a fast way to load a mod to test it.

Reminds me that I've still got a ways to go to get through NWN Platinum, let alone all the created stuff there is! Neverwinter Nights is great.

NWN is quite awesome... Haven't played it in a long time though. But I can't wait to get my hands on NWN2.

Hmmm makes me miss Baldur's Gate II. I am still very bummed over the third's cancellation....and Fallouts too....Sorry, back to the thread topic!

Well, if you didn't know, Bethesda is making the third Fallout now.

They are STILL patching NWN? Wow, I kinda forgot about the game.

I was a bit disapointed with how there was almost no way to load in new resources (models, textures, pictures, sounds, just about anything like that) without doing some extremely strange things, aside from that it was a good hack-n-slash engine that works decently for other things as well.

Baldur's Gate 3 and Fallout 3 were cancelled? How did I miss that?

Hmm. I'm not sure the process for adding new models, pictures, etc. is too difficult. Of course, I've been doing this for awhile and feel pretty comfortable with the engine. I think the challenge comes from the fact that Bioware made a decision to make things easy for the user and not necessarily the person making the custom content.

One of my team members (http://adamandjamie.com/da/) was looking through the TLK file and noticed references to a variety of pirate-related terms. My guess is that you'll see a pirate-themed module for sale from their digital download site fairly soon.

I thought that Atari was still having someone work on BG3, but perhaps it was canned (again.)

Regardless whether it is or not, there was a discussion here some months back where the conclusion was that a real Baldur's Gate-type game is unlikely from anyone anymore due to costs and the market...

Rumor has it that Fergus at Obsidian bought up the Icewind Dale license if you're into that sort of thing.

I just wish the NWN engine was more usable by laymen. I have written numberous LG mods and such, and would love to make some rounds for the PC.

I've been living in the digital age too long. It took me almost a full thirty seconds to realise you meant "swash-buckling" pirates.

Incidentally, what is a "swash" and what makes buckling one so irresistable?

Yeah, yeah, a joke... but anyways:

Swashbuckling is a early bastardization of swashbuckler. Swash originally meant to land a heavy blow (circa 1550 or so) then became the splash of water hitting a surface (circa 1650 - 1700... I think). However, swashbuckler came into use sometime after swash to reffer to the bluster of a fighter seemingly from the sound of striking their own buckler (small round forearm shield), with no association directly with pirates and what not. After swash started refering to splash more than strike, swash seems to have become a term referencing sea adventurers and what not (around 1850ish?). The whole daring and dashing thing was rather recent if I remember correctly.

I don't really remember too clearly, so an etymology guide would probably provide a far better explanation.

And here's their site (http://nwn.bioware.com/premium/module_pirates.html) for their pirate mod . . . :)
