Just booted up Guitar Hero 2 for the 360 and it did the update thing. Afterwards the whammy bar worked (mine didn't previously).

To celebrate I downloaded Killer Queen pack.

If people didn't buy those packs, they might just lower the price.

Xbox live is all about paying too much for additional content.

Yeah, I know, I didn't want to buy it. 500 is 200 too much imo, but after driving to work today with Queen playing on More FM, I decided to get it. Trust me, unless another pack comes out with Lion's rock rendition of the Transformers theme from the 80's movie, I aint buying anymore at that price.

BTW the vocals suck on Killer Queen. Nothing like freddie :( The guitaring rocks however. :)

EDIT:: A news worthy story!! You can tell it's Sunday! :p

Xbox live is all about paying too much for additional content.Even though GH2 is more fun than I ever thought it could be, I have to agree with you. With these packs being available so soon after release I feel they could have included the songs in the retail package. On the other hand, it is better than waiting months for more content. Vote with your wallets people, it's all we can do.

Just wish they would now produce a patch which fixes all the other crashing and hanging problems.

Of course they could have included all of the GH1 songs in the 360 version, but then they couldn't have charged over $2 a song for them.

Kentlad :mad:To what are you refering? I have never had a crash or a bug. My whammy bar worked fine before the update.

My Whammy bar has always worked, just the game will hang or crash at random times during play. You can get through 1 or 19 songs, seems to be completely at random.

Over at xbox forums seems to be a fairly common problem, with lots of people also experiencing the same.

Strange I below to 8 xbox forums. This is the first I have heard. I am gonna check into this. We just had our Lan night last night, which involved over 6 hours of guitar hero and no crashes.

hmm.... I think that I may actually be pissed that they made me take my god damned guitar hero 2 package back to the store.... I should've just waited for the damn update.

I'm a little surprised it could be fixed in software. Good for them since a recall would destroy that razor-thin profit margin. Clearly they're in desperate straits if XBL pricing is any indicator. Seriously, good on them for fixing it.

*Look ma, I'm an analyst!

I know what you mean. Sometimes the song will just freeze at the beginning, and I can still hear the crowd and everything, and then a few seconds later (usually right as I go to hit the power button) it will lurch back to life. The thing that annoys me the most is the little delay in switching between menus, but I am just bitching at this point.

Also, I was one of the people who opened up their guitar and moved the whammy bar sensor, and that made mine work...BUT MAYBE IT WAS ALL IN MY HEAD?! Either way, it's nice that the problem is apparently fixed.

So it WAS software. Any news on just what it was?

The whammy bar is like a joystick, I think they just tweaked the setting on the dead zone

Nice, now my whammy bar works 100% of the time. Getting high scores and nailing 5 star reviews is much easier now. Too bad it wasn't like that at launch, but hey, at least it's fixed.
BTW, I downloaded all three packs cuz I'm a wasteful dirty money spending whore. :D

Seems the patch is causing tons of problems for many people. Constant freezing and even breaking systems. Be careful.

OK, doesn't every patch MS releases do that?

I'm not touching my GHII until this gets resolved. My whammy works. but earlier this week it did start to act a little stupid. thank god for Puzzle Quest or I would have updated, WHEW!

This thread was started way before the patch came out. Seems it could be the game in general.

Yup, the thread Siraris linked to was created almost two weeks ago.

I never had a problem, but I'm glad that it sounds like most people are getting their shit fixed. The fact that they can patch that is kind of crazy to me.

I think every patch ANYONE releases does this.

Of course by "this" I mean cause a flood of people claiming it broke their machines, whether console or PC. I've even seen it on World of Warcraft forums, where one guy claimed the patch had overclocked his video card and caused it to fail.

I think the 2.1 patch kicked my dog

There seems to be and overall shortage of Guitar Hero II (360) in Canada. Future Shop (Best Buy owned store of the exact same nature) has removed it entirely from their website but had it listed briefly on release day. I think they removed it due to the recall. EB has absolutely none. I'm sad :<

Mine was spotty from the start (could get it to work most of the time).
but after the patch, it seems to work even better.
Haven't seen any of the problems others were mentioning.
