Capcom at their gamers day has announced Talisman (http://www.blackindustries.com/?template=TM&content=default) for the 360/PS3/PC

Game Description:
Based on Games Workshop's classic board game, Talisman is the quintessential fantasy hybrid board/role-playing game for up to four players, either online or offline. The game takes place in a fantasy realm and is based very closely on the board game through a 3D representation of the map with animated movements and in-game events. Characters are fully animated as they walk about the board, attack other creatures, cast beautiful effect-laden spells and use objects to enhance their actions. Talisman will be rolling its way onto Xbox LIVEŽ Arcade, PLAYSTATIONŽNetwork and PC this winter. The highly anticipated 4th Edition of the board game is due for release from Games Workshop"s Black Industries imprint in October 2007.

Features:

* Electronic board game with 3D characters and environments
* 1 - 4 players offline and online multiplayer
* Dynamic camera angles adjust to each active player
* Up to 25 characters from the Talisman franchise
* Unique features for each character including strength and magical abilities
* Voice chat options
* Downloadable game expansions including character updates, adventure card updates and alternate endings

First Catan, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect Talisman to get this sort of treatment. I'm insanely happy right now.

Yay first news post :)

I love this current trend of board games coming out. But Talisman is really the last game I ever expected to see get this treatment. And Capcom doing it? Just shocked the pants off of me really.

For the uninitiated...what is Talisman? You guys who know have got me excited about a game I've never even heard of, so I'd like to know what I am getting pumped about. :)

Talisman is a fantasy board game, you rolls the dice, go around a bord, fighting monsters getting weapons and building levels until you're strong enough to conquer a randomly selected endgame. There's a ton of different character archtypes you can be, each with special powers that you need to play towards, so each game is quite different.

It's a lot of fun to play in a group..quite luck dependant, but whatever. It's a blast.

Talisman was like a non linear HeroQuest.

Thanks! The fact that there are a bunch of different character types sounds awesome, I love games that give me lots of choices!

I wish I could say, "Oh, that sounds great then!" but I will admit I only ever played with the little HeroQuest characters as a kid, I never really played the actual game.

I will say that the little bits of story in HeroQuest were the reasons I played Baldur's Gate, got interested in Lord of the Rings, etc. It had a huge impact on some of my tastes despite the fact that I never actually played it.

Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit! If I hadn't gotten one around X-mas, this would have caused me to get an Xbox. This is a must buy. I still have my board and pieces (and there were many more than two expansions, but they had diminishing returns). This game meant many happy hours for my friends and I in HS.

Woo! I've wanted to pick up a copy of Talisman for a while now as I have very fond memories of playing it at my friend's house years ago but I sort of gave up because its so rare and when it does pop up on ebay it's usually rather pricy.

This may be just the thing for me.

Oh my. I loooooved Talisman. I still have Talisman, One of the Expansions, Talisman City, Planescape and Dungeon. Those games were awesome in any size group.

Though I don't think we ever REALLY finished a game. Maybe once. Maybe.

Uhm... yeah.

I'm all about the PC versions, and this game sounds fun.

What I'd love to see get some lovin' is a Car Wars/Auto Duel/RoadWar 2000 type game.

I want to see Munchkin done well online. Talisman sounds cool, but I'm unfamiliar with it.

Robo Rally would be a great fit for Live Arcade. That's a wonderful game.

Talisman @ Board Game Geek.com (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/metasearch.php?searchtype=game&search=talisman)

There is a new board game version coming out in 2007, but look at the older versions to get to some of the reviews of the system.

Mmm. Just checked. Still have Talisman, Expansion, City, Dungeon all together and all in great condition. Wish I had some folk around here I could play it against now, but like I said, There's been nary a time (Due to alcohol often) that a game has ever been played to conclusion. An online one would help.

Never played the board game, but sounds like a blast. This type of game translates well into video game versions I would think.
