Huh! Apparently Electronic Arts is taking Xbox Live Arcade seriously, at least going by the fact that they have now launched a website dedicated to their releases on Microsoft's groundbreaking service.

You can check it out here (http://www.ea.com/arcade/home.jsp).

The only two games listed so far are the already-released Boom Boom Rocket (http://www.ea.com/arcade/game.jsp?game=boomboom) from Bizarre Creations and Wing Commander (http://www.ea.com/arcade/game.jsp?game=wing), which will be hitting XBLA soon.

I can only say.
Good.
Lets see why and what this means.

Excellent. It would have been nice if the Wing Commander game was a real Wing Commander game and not Twisted Metal with spaceship skins, but I'll still try the demo.

Boom Boom Rocket's a blast (ooh, I made a funny!), but I have some serious doubts about Wing Commander since the last time I saw vids of it.

It's not the original Wing Commander? WTF...

Craptaku actually has a good write up, too bad it's blocked. Based on the writeup, I'll definitely be avoiding this. Gravity bombs my ass.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. I mean, I'm glad that they're releasing something new and different on XBLA (looks like a vastly improved WC:Arena), but it would just be so awesome if they'd include the original game with updated graphics but with identical gameplay.

Man, I loved me some WC2... (Angel = teh hawtness, back in the day :) )

Could this mean more arcade games from EA? All signs point to yes. The mega publisher has their feet wet, now lets see if they jump in the pool.

I'm more of a fan of Spirit. :)

I can't wait for a remake of every Pogo.com game.
I'm sure I'll get Wing Commander as it didn't look that bad, but there's a big fat chance they'll seize every opportunity to port their Pogo games over to the 360.

It would be nice to see some old Microprose titles updated for live. Who owns those games now anyway?

I don't remember who made it, but I would love to see Freespace on the arcade.

@fits: Good, we need alot more options in XBLA. Maybe a MiniSaga or MiniRPG? But man, Wing Commander, that is a classic, they better know what they are messing with.

@Maczero: I just got Boom Boom Rocket last night and absolutely love it. Wish there were more songs/content to choose from though.

I'd honestly love to get FIFA 95 remade into an XBLA. that was the best implementation of th FIFA Series ever. Simple, fun and quick.

Developed by Volition and published by Interplay if I remember correctly , Freespace was a great game in its day :)

Both Freespace 1 and 2 was awsome... I miss the good old days of flying up by a capital ship to get a look and getting blasted by a mega laser.

Yea on the Freespace memories. Aren't both of them freeware these days? Lets have an EvilAvatar Freespace Lan Party!
