Raven Shield Free Expansion / F.E.A.R. Beta

What a windfall for Raven Shield (PC) owners! There's apparently a free expansion called "Iron Wrath" (http://www.fileplanet.com/154363/150000/fileinfo/Tom-Clancy's-Rainbow-Six-3:-Iron-Wrath-Expansion-%5BUS%5D---Requires-Key!) available for download on waitplanet. This puppy packs in 6 new weapons, optimized missions and a brand-new campaign.

The other less exciting download is the F.E.A.R. Multiplayer CLOSED Beta (http://www.fileplanet.com/150285/150000/fileinfo/F.E.A.R.-Multiplayer-Closed-Beta-%5BSubscriber-Only%5D) (for paying subscribers only). But hey, wait a week or two and it'll go open beta.

What's the deal with the free expansion? Gesture of goodwill from Le Ubi?

I'm up late watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force and reading comics. In a few minutes, I'm going to pick out a novel and start reading till about 4:00 AM.

I am actually bummed that F.E.A.R. is multi-player only. I was really looking forward to trying out the single player level.

I think that the Iron Wrath expansion was free because it was originally planned then Ubi announced that it wouldn't happen. Then they recieved flack that GR2 wasn't coming to PC and they needed some positive community response for the new upcoming Lockdown since it was announced that the PC version is scheduled to release far after the console versions.

I think that originally Iron Wrath was offered but users had to plop down $30 for the CD-Key to unlock MP. But now, IW is totally free. It's a much better expansion pack versus Athena Sword. The maps are just as big, if not bigger, and there isn't the framerate issue that Athena Sword sufferred from.

The classic maps installed are as good as the high-end fan created maps.

Really? I hope that gets fixed in the final version, then. The teaser movies have me drooling over this one. I just love the scary little girl scenes.
