GameGossip.com (http://www.gamegossip.com/comment.php?id=13702) is reporting that Strategy First and developer Pocket PC Studios have signed a deal that will see Strategy First's titles released on the DS. The first two games to be released are of the Jagged Alliance and Disciples series.

Seriously that kicks arse, I love Jagged alliance and Disciples/Disciples II. Those games would be totally awesome on the DS.

Totally sweet! I I love my DS! Awesome.. I agree I can't wait until the RPG's start coming too. I would love to see X-com make it to the DS as well.

I would love to see X-com make it to the DS as well.

I don't know, if I could play X-com on the DS, I may never work again, and end up living on the streets, shambling round trying to find a place to plug in and power up my DS.

The Gallop brothers (who made the original X-Com and Laser Squad Nemesis) are working on a cartoony X-Com-a-like called Rebelstar (http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/03/30/news_6121341.html), but for some thoroughly retarded reason it's a GBA game. I don't even know who owns the rights to X-Com these days but a proper DS port would be fantastic.

Oh, and the games they're porting are JA2 Gold Edition and Disciples II. They also mentioned Europa Universalis II at E3.

This is some good news! More titles for my eventual DS purchase. I've never played/heard of Disciples, anyone mind giving me some information/linkage? (I'll just run to google in the meantime and searchify the internets.)

Disciples is a fun little turn-based game. Erm... the only thing I can think of comparing it to is the map-game of Etherlords (although quite a bit superior). I never actually bought the game, but I played through the demo quite a few times. But yeah, taking hero-ish units, moving them around the map killing things, etc.

Holy fucking shit.

I mean, fuck. Shit. Hot damn.

If they release Disciples for the DS, I will buy a DS and Disciples the day that game comes out. I love the current (very innovative) DS games for a little bit, but they get old too quickly. Disciples, well... yeah. Holy shit.

Yeah. Might be a seller for me too. You know, if I have any money at that point.

Now Etherlords is a game that would work quite well on the DS!

The first time I seriously saw the DS as something I would consider buying was when I saw Advance Wars DS - touch screen control of the battlefield is the first use of the stylus that doesn't seem like a cute gimmick to me.

The more neat strategy games that come out with such control, the closer I get to actually paying for a DS.

Do you use a dvorak layout? I switched a few years back and it's worked out quite well. It does confuse anyone using my laptop though. F is u? S is o?... <YU?

Just started making the switch yesterday, I'm actually amazed by how easy it is to learn a new keyboard layout.

I can type about 50 wpm with QWERTY so its a bit of a frustrating period, but I'm commited to seeing this through. I'm a programmer so I spend all my day either coding or writing specs, and I've been getting a bit of wrist strain lately (no cheesy jokes ;) ) so I thought I would finally make the switch, as its something I have been curious about for years.

I'm not a programmer, so it doesn't matter so much to me, but do the punctuation position changes make typing code better or worse?

Its still a bit early to tell for me, as I'm still a noob when it comes to dvorak, so I'm still doing most of my programming in QWERTY (can't really justify making my company pay for me learning Dvorak).

However from what I here its fine for coding. Not that typing speed is really an issue for coding, just general finger strain.

I think forcing myself to switch completely to dvorak helped bring my typing speed back up quickly. I'm no longer able to type in qwerty though.
