View Full Version : Something Has Happened to TimeShift

This is one of those cases of a videogame in development being completely reworked visually and conceptually. Check it out.
Here's the deal -- TimeShift probably should have been out awhile ago, but you know -- the best laid plans, bad press, and all that jazz. The Saber Interactive title was originally being published by Atari, but didn't seem to be meeting their lofty expectations. A demo was released, which was met with cynical press and rampant internet-troll whining. The game was delayed, and then in August of last year, publishing rights shifted over the Vivendi.

Wow! After looking at those screens I have to admit I find myself sudden interested in this title again.

Damn. That looks pretty good. Would love to see it in motion.

I thought this game WAS already out. That looks much much better than that demo they released.

Yeah, that looks way nicer than what I played in the demo back when.

I'm not worried about the visuals, I'm worried about the gameplay, which if the demo was any indication, sucks.
On the other hand, I suppose the fact that they recognize it needs revamping is a good sign.

So they added bumpmapping and shininess? And that makes it all good? heh you guys.
I think what sucked the most was the gameplay.

Haha, I don't know why, but this thread title reminds me of "They changed something in the Matrix.."

That does look better, but damn guys, dial back the shine button a bit!

The whole time control / altering fad is OVER. Even FEAR is funnest when that feature is used only sparingly.

I was one of the people on the internet that thought it looked like ass. It's pretty smart of them to put more time into this and get it looking good. Hopefully the story will also be much improved and they will use the time-shifting capabilities more.
Ooh Shiny! It is TEH AWESOME!!! No, wait, same game, different coat of paint. Though I must admit, maybe they looked at Gears and said "oh yea, thats what we wanted to do."
On a side note, Hey G35TwinTurbo, do you actually have a G35 with a TwinTurbo in your Whip? I'm looking to Turbo mine. Just curious.

It looks pretty damn good. I like the mech design in particular. Here's hoping they fixed their gameplay and storyline problems as well.

The immediate time control fad is, but I would like to see, in like a Fallout (2)-style of game, a less sci-fi and more complex time travel game.
Perhaps not as complex as Primer, but I would like to kill someone off who would otherwise become a dictator, only to have the world I return to in utter chaos. That sort of thing.
Look pretty. But if it still has the same zany-wobbly-gun-aiming mechanics then count me out.
Wait!! Are these some cut scene screenshots from a PS3 game? Nothing new here...
This game will probably be out in a few years along with Killzone...

Exactly. I played the demo, and while it didn't look great, my main problem was with the controls. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it was like I was moving through pudding, trying to get the gun to aim properly.
I was also disappointed in how little the time control was used. They promised all sorts of cool puzzles in previews, and what did the demo have? Yet another flick a switch to open a gate, and then use slow time to get to it before it closes puzzle, which must have been done multiple times in each POP.

Umm... it's not rampant internet-troll whining when the game sucks.

I always said I had high hopes for this game. I never bought into the naysaying. Here's to hoping I was right :D

Doesn't even look remotely like the same game. Which is a good thing. :)

I remember hearing about this game but for some reason i don't recall seeing any pics. Technically that looks good but aesthetically, ugh.
