IGN has posted a new interview with Ed Boon, creator of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon (http://wii.ign.com/articles/779/779234p1.html) for Nintendo Wii. The title is supposed to ship in mid-May and feature accessible motion-based fighting controls. Other things to note from the article: The title runs in 16x9, 480p and can be played with the WaveBird as well as the Wii remote.IGN Wii: What do you personally think about the Wii controls versus standard controls?
Ed Boon: I think it opens the door for a different way of thinking about the game. What we're really happy about with Armageddon is that we took something that had a different control scheme and managed to get it to be fun to play with the Wii remote. That was always our concern - would it be something that would feel good playing? So we're happy about that.
Designing the game from the ground up and using the controls, I think there's even more of an opportunity there to do some cool stuff. So I'm sure the next wave of games will have even more innovative stuff, using the Wii remote like Trauma Center and all that stuff.
Whip up a 360 version and I'll buy it.

There's also a funny typo where the game is referenced as 'Motor Kombat'.
Motor Kombat is the racing MK game you get as a bonus, the PS2 and Xbox version contained it as well.

I just had the theme song pop for the movie into my head, but instead it was Motor Kombat and the techno beat was motorcycles revving their engines.
I don't know what's wrong with me.

Jesus tore, why not paint a giant HIT ME sign on your forehead!!! Such a brutal opening it just feels cheap to take advantage...

I have never been a huge fan of MK games but honestly when I saw the video showing the game it seem really fun but I will have to wait to read reviews from the game even if the reviews are great most likely I'm not buying it.

Yay! Another last gen port with Wiimote controls attached! Whoopie!
Seriously...when are 3rd party companies gonna actually put some damn effort into their Wii games?

The game wasn't very good in the first place by most accounts, I'm not sure tacked on Wii controls can really save it.

When they piss of the original gyration software from 94-95 that still models all input choices in all Wii games. Lame.

I guess the answer is most of them won't. They'll wonder "this is odd, we shoveled a bunch of shit onto the Wii and no one bought it. Guess Wii owners will only buy Nintendo games, let's give up".
But hopefully a good number of third parties will catch on.
