EA Sports (http://www.easports.com/articles/afl.jsp) has officially announced their exclusivly license football game. The site contains a trailer for the game showing no gameplay footage and over the top action.Anyone that follows Arena Football has experienced the shootout nature of the game, from absurdly high scores to big hits into the side walls of the field to the throwback nature of players going both ways. This is a different type of football, focusing on speed, quickness and innovation, while operating on levels both big and small: tighter playing fields than traditional football, with larger celebrations and spectacles at each contest.

In other words...

EA Sports has officially announced their exclusivly license football game (Arena Football). This game is garunteed to be the THIRD game EA sports releases every year to use the same exact engine as the award winning MADDEN, thereby increasing profits even more with minimal effort!

WTF? So they oficially license football and then make it not football?
"This is a different type of football"
"absurdly high scores"
"focusing on speed, quickness and innovation"
"tighter playing fields than traditional football"

Bisexual players?
"players going both ways"

What am I not getting? Why bother buying the license if you are just going to make a fake football game anyway?

They are buying Arena football, which has all those characteristics. It is different than the NFL. Going both ways means one player playing offense and defense.

I still think it will be trash though.

Oooohhh!

Shows how much I pay attention to football.

Maybe not having a TV for the last 7 years helps. ;-)

Basically the field is about half as wide and only 50 yards long. Receivers get a running start pre-snap, there is no out of bounds, only walls. I've only watched it a couple times, so I am sure there are more differences. It is pretty entertaining though.

For those of us that find regular football games slow, this could be very fun. Will hold judgement till I play it.

Since it uses the same engine it would have been nice if they but the arena football and nfl europe in madden kinda like fifa has different leagues.
