Gamespy (http://media.pc.gamespy.com/media/729/729460/imgs_1.html?ui=rssFeed) has a handful of new screenshots of the PC version of Phantasy Star Universe.

I ...Can't...Wait!

I played PSO I+II for the Xbox, it was ok. Not my cup of tea though. Looking at these screenshots, looks like the next interration in the series is more of the same. Meaning fans will be happy but those of us that didn't like the last one, probably won't like this one.

For me, personally, the character design is just too pseudo-FF XI (in teh future!) and too weird crossing that over into kind of bright sharp-edged anime world style. Ah well.

This is a single player RPG at the core...hopefully back to the roots of Phantasy Star II and IV. Good stuff!

Gawd, I hope this is good. I've been playing Phantasy Star IV using a Genesis emulator on my cellphone and it truly is a fabulous game. I hope Sega does not screw this up like every thing else they released in the past few years. :(

Sega could seriously use some work in the character design department. This is an RPG, people. I mean, where are the

Bowties around the wrists?

Sleeveless shirts cut off at the middrift?

Multicolored chrome armbands?

13 criss crossing belts from the waist up to the abdomen?

Spandex pants with cunningly placed rips and tassles?

Knee high boots with dozens of buckles and laces?

Manbras?

Chaps?

Massive necklaces necksleeves and neck collars?

I like my RPG characters androgynous and tarted up to the point that homosexuals would call them gay.

LMAO! Sounds like Square|Enix character designs to me! :D

I played alot of this at E3 and it sucks hardcore, and if youv been paying attention to my posts im quite the fanboy of PSO.

The char design is bad even by japanese standerds, your AI buddies are horribly stupid, the camera sucks, you controle like a stick in the mud, and the list goes on! Mark another failure up for Sonic Team

Yeah, because Sega's probably going to just let the E3 2005 version sit around until next year, and then they'll realease it unchanged. They do have over a year to fix errors, so I wouldn't judge it, just yet.

Damnit, what happened to the re-release of Phantasy Star 1,2,4 for the PS2?

(Sorry, every PSU article makes me wonder.)

A lot of classic games have sucked at E3. Hell, even after release it's taken time in the past, like Diablo 2.

EDIT: I will admit that some of those screenshots look kinda ugly though, mainly by looking unfinshed.

I was thinking the exact same thing, jpublic. So I decided to answer my own question. EB/amazon have no release dates pending. The only thing about the remakes is the press releases announcing it coming out in Japan , possibly in the US/EU.

From the website (http://www.conspiracygames.com/games.php) of Conspiracy Games, the folks bringing it to the US, it's listed as Q1 2005.

Looks like it's either late, or the company porting it is in bad financial shape (http://quotes.nasdaq.com/asp/summaryquote.asp?symbol=CPYE&selected=CPYE).

Don't hold your breath, consider it a small miracle if it does come out.

Yeah, cause Sonic Team realy improves their games from E3 to launch. I mean, it's not like they would sell a game before they fixed the bad controles and camera among other things. They always keep working on them untill they are grade A titles.

Burn... I just meant that you couldn't really judge the game fairly based on an early edition that is bound to see changes. Im not saying it is going to end up a grade A title, but Im sure it won't be as bad as you described it. And for being a "pso fanboy" you're pretty critical of sonic team, in a sarcastic way, of course. If your so concerned about bad camera and stiff controls, perhaps you should find another franchise to become a "fanboy" of.

13 criss crossing belts from the waist up to the abdomen?

I am still trying to figure out what those are supposed to do, because they must do something. No one could have came up with that without their having been some function originally for inspiration right? Right? Yeesh, ever wonder how precisely characters in Square progressed to the point they have? Doesn't anyone in that company say: "Alright, what the fuck is that *Supposed* to be? He has netting holding the top and bottom half of his pant legs together!"

Iv been to enough E3 to have a good idea of how games will end up. And besides, if Sonic Team thought that demo was a good enough representation of their game then ill just have to take their word for it.

Also, I never said I was a fanboy of Sonic Team, iv been ragging on them for years.

Considering the original PSO remains one of the best online games today, I've been anticipating this game for quite some time.

In my opinion, the original was even better than FFXI. Sega did it first and did it better, not to mention the game even supported a broadband connection and internet browser.

Sega's always been ahead of their time.

Sonic Team is rather notorious for releasing titles exactly how they displayed at E3. Remember the fire effects of Burning Rangers, or every single one of the last Sonic titles?

I still cant decide what for sure made PSO so fun in the first place. I think it was becuase things were so simple there wasnt much to mess up. I remember how hearing the Dreamcast servers being shut down accualy ruined my day even though I stoped playing by then. I bought Eps I and II, and the X-Box ver. I prefered the DC vers becuase the voice chat really took away from the world.

Also, a large part of it for me was the art and music. I would not compare it to FFXI though.

Edit: To be fair, I played the Shadow game and it's kind of fun. Imagin playing as sonic in any Sonic Adv game but also having the powers as that stupid robot, also in the Sonic Adv games.

Why cant sonic do something like make a normal Sonic game, or god forbid *gasp* another NiGHTS game?
