Good Day to everyone! This weekend I will be using day five of a free fourteen day trial membership for City of Heroes. Downloading the game was a breeze and it is nice I get to play all four issues with the trial, instead of just the "original" like other game trials do. Having a manual would help answer certain questions (like the fact that you can have many different colors on the costumes instead of just a two color linked set), but since it is FREE, I better be asking people any questions I may have (and people there are very helpful). It is odd not to be doing any crafting or foraging - just fight, fight, fight. I am told, and have been finding out that the game is not for people who like to solo at high levels. Is this correct? Also I learned, trying out the different classes, and sub-classes can really make a difference. Classes that I thought I liked, I didn't, classes I thought I would dislike, I have enjoyed. Sometimes it was just changing from one type of sub-class to another did I start enjoying the character. What will you be playing this weekend?

Probably BF2, so I can form my final opinions... so far, good, but more of the same.

BF2, and then when I decide that I'm having too much fun I will punish myself by playing the hell that is WoW. Game was fun now its full of assholes and whiners.

Halo 2 on live. Umm, I might also look at my pre-order reciept for Halo 3 and dream.

KOTOR2 at the moment.

Psychonauts for me. It's the funniest game I've played in a long while.

I've also had a little fun with my own project (http://adamandjamie.com/da/). I scripted in some Molotov Cocktails which explode nicely and burning objects can set other nearby items on fire. Setting things on fire is terribly entertaining.

Where do you get into this trial of CoH? I've been wanting to try it but I would really rather not fork out fifty bucks for a game I probably won't play past my first month.

I am playing through Mercenaries [XBOX version] again while crossing my fingers hoping that Destroy All Humans will be good. Anyways, Mercenaries is probably one of my favourite games of this generation. The way that it makes the player feel alone even though this massive conflict is unfolding all around is just wonderful, and the physics are still top notch, even if they are very exagerrated. I am hoping that a sequel appears on the next generation consoles, but even if it does not, The Outfit by Relic looks suspiciously close on several levels, despite the fact it is set in WWII and not the near future.

Soloing is dead easy at high lvls IF you have the right ATs and powers. Regen scrappers used to be able to solo a fair few AVs, so they got nerfed but can still easily solo (just not to the point of being broken). The fire tank is the god of solo properly built, also xp machines once you get herding down. Fire controllers and their imp hordes after 32 are a wonder to watch, stick in rad for the secondary and they're pretty unstoppable.

Thing about all 3 of those, if that they're last bloomers, the fire controller especially having to get to 32+ (want some slots in there) before you can effectivly solo.

World of Warcraft! Still going strong. Just made a pair of new characters with my wife, gnome rogue and warlock. Old characters, druid and warrior are on a break. Haven't tried the battlegrounds yet, but have been hearing great stuff. And a lot of whining about shamans, sheesh, only thing worse than shamas are the people constantly whining.

I'm done with WoW. Reached lvl 39 and saw no reason to continue playing. I was never an MMO gamer. But GTA:SA (PC) is keeping me busy and, holy shit, its a great fucking game.

I received an email invite from a friend. NCSoft has done this twice so far - Valentine's Day and Memorial day where they send an email to the members inviting them to send the invitation out to their friends who want to try the game for 14 days. If you have a friend who is playing it (the friend who sent it to me I met playing EQ), let them know you are interested.

Prolly a bunch of Halo 2 online tonight. Also a bit of Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee on the PSP. I'm addicted to that game, big time!

The Battlefield 2 demo. I'm having a lot of fun with it, despite the... iffy performance. It runs fine but it's "jumpy" (not lag) at times. Sometimes it just freezes for a couple seconds... as if it's loading something.
Had a great time with it so far though.

Sounds like the EAX bug. Disable EAX and see if that helps, helped me.

BF2 is good, but I'm annoyed at a few things with it, like how the mouse y axis is backwards in aircraft and you can't remap it, or how I have yet to figure out how to unlock the frigging rocket launcher so I can take out tanks. I could write more but that's the worst so far. I'm a huge BFV fan so I'll continue with the BF2 demo for now.

The "looking for a summer job to pay for a new video card and help out with college next year" game. And San Andreas for PC when I finally do get the card. :D

I was Gonna play BF2 for a few minutes before work, but I found out that my vid card is obsolete, which makes me a sad panda. I absolutely loved BF1942, I played it incessantly, and I was easily top 1% back in the day, but I don't have the money to get a new vid card (stupid college costing money). I might try and get back into WoW tomorrow, battlegrounds is making me want to get a few more levels to try it out. Maybe I'll play some Resident Evil 4, who knows?

Turn down texture detail. BF2 has a caching system which means it suffers from the same hitches as Source/HL2.

Battlefield 2 if it ever downloads. I can't leave it overnight since I have to use the school's computers. I also realized I won't be able to play it much since I have two final projects that are due tuesday and if I don't turn them in I'll surely fail those two classes.

I'm going to further my addiction to World of Warcraft by actually trying out battlegrounds. I'll probably try out the BF2 demo I just downloaded and I'm planning on continuing my campaign (umm... no, story? whatever) in San Andreas. Someday I'll play the Supreme Ruler: 2010 demo that I've had installed for a month, not sure when.

Well, I Ascended in GW the other day so my goals for that game are met for the near future. I need to get back into WoW so I can get my mount and wander some more.

However this weekend is chockablock with mostly non-gaming activities. Car seat inspection clinic, installing the air conditioner, trying to avoid melting into a puddle during this horrid heat wave SW Ontario is suffering through...

I did play some Haunting Ground last night and tonight I'll try to play, well, something. Tomorrow I go back to work after 5 1/2 glorious months off on parental leave, so if nothing else I'll spend tonight sitting in a corner, weeping softly.

No BF2 4 me. Will Not run on my Ti4600 128 card. Could play HL2 and DOOM 3 pretty well but I'm shut out of BF2. Played the area 51 demo actually thought it was alright.
Not amazing but kinda fun and goofy. If it's priced at 29 or so I'll pick it up!

Anybody know why my AMD 2800 512 Ram Ti4600 is a no go? Below min specs?? Oh well!

Not a dx9 card.. I have the same, won't even open for me... oh well... I knew that was going to be the case when they listed which cards were supported.

I'll see if I can download CoH, if not it'll be a GTA:SA weekend.

I just finished Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and I am stuck with a small problem. My wife got me GTA:SA for the Xbox as an early Father's Day gift (since my son is too young to buy ;) ) and I also bought the PC version. Anyone have an opinion which one I should play?

Yeah, I have since figured that out... but thanks for the heads up anyway.
I don't have this problem with HL2 though... or any other game. I have a 6800GT with 256mb of ram... so I assumed that it had enough room to hold the high textures.... guess not?
I dunno. I hope they fix it for the retail version. Now playing it (and enjoying it) at 1280 with everything EXCEPT textures at high. Textures are not at medium, heh.

The PC version, because it a) looks better b) has better controls and c) has the facility to import your own MP3s.

You are probably right on a & b. But just as an FYI, you can import your own MP3s on all the GTAs that have been made for the Xbox.

GF4 cards, apparently, do not possess Pixel Shader 1.4, which is, unfortunately, a requirement. I just upgraded to an athlon 64 3000 and 1 GB of DDR 400 ram.. I guess I'll be looking at videocards come payday.

Battlefield 2 Demo most of the time. Gotta love its AT class. Them guided missiles are and absolute destruction weapon. Even better than tanks! And the AA guns are at last a warking solution agains those flying monsters.
And GTA: SA PC version. F'Shizzle mah Nizzle:)
And yeah, gotta find some time to prepare for my exams:)

I think the Xbox GTA:SA version sucks in the control department. I havent tried switching the control scheme (is that even possible?) but pushing both black and white buttons at the same time to look behind the car just plain sucks. Those buttons are not raised like the other buttons....so it's cumbersome and idiotic.

I just picked up a DS now that Best Buy was offering Super Mario DS for free with it. It's a ten-year old game, but I am amazed at how well it plays on a handheld (I'm not having any trouble with the touchscreen analog and the thumb strap).

I also picked up Wario Touched (which my fiance has not let out of her hands for some time now), at the same time.

Now, too bad the other games I've been craving for it don't come out until late summer/fall, but at least it plays GBA games. Anyone heard anything about Riviera?

Republic Commando and Doom 3 on Xbox.

Having more fun with Doom 3 on Xbox than I did on PC.

Got Paper Mario 1000 Year Door a couple weeks ago and I've yet to try that cause I don't have time to devote to an RPG at the moment.
